Well, 'L' is the Roman numeral for 50. . . and this is the 50th Super Bowl.

BUT, the powers-that-be in NFL-land have deemed using the 'L' as too much temptation for the media and the masses (my interpretation) to dub it the Loser Bowl (i.e., Cheats), and so it will be called SB 50 instead.
