Looks like the their loss to the Rams was the final straw for Jerruh. Wouldn't be surprised if Jason Garrett was next despite claims to the contrary by Cowboys ownership.

Cowboys move on from Scott Linehan, calling it a “mutual decision”
Posted by Mike Florio on January 18, 2019

They wish him the best they can, in light of the fact that they won’t be employing him any longer.

The Dallas offense has received plenty of criticism for being too simple and unimaginative. Their meat-and-potatoes attack, grounded in pounding the opposing defense with a strong offensive line, a high-end running game, and a passing game fueled by play-action, either works or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, there’s no Plan B.

The mutual decision is making a mini-comeback.

Only four days after Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said that he plans to retain his coaching staff, Garrett and the Cowboys have moved on from offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.

“This was not an easy decision because of how highly we regard Scott Linehan as a football coach and as a person,” Garrett said in a statement. “He and I had some really positive, substantive and open discussions which took place in the latter part of this week, and we ultimately agreed that it would be in the best interest of all of the parties involved if we were to make a change at this position.

This was very much a mutual decision, and there was a great deal of common ground and shared understanding between both of us during our meetings. Scott has had an incredibly positive impact on our football team. He has been instrumental in the development and success of a significant number of our veteran and younger players. He is an outstanding football coach, a great friend and we wish him and his family nothing but the absolute best moving forward.”

The organization will now move on to Plan B, with Linehan out and the Cowboys obviously looking to diversify its efforts to gain yards and score points.

Mutual... yup.

Jerruh: "You know we're firing you, right?"
Linehan: "Right, I understand"
Jerruh: "Then, it's mutual".

Dont teams usually fire their OC's when their defense gives up over 250 yrds rushing?
I guess that's how they do it in Dallas.

It was just 2-3 years ago Linny was getting great praise for the Cowpies offense. Maybe he should have used the Run Option with Dak more. Dak is not the greatest passer.

Linehan/Zygmunt destroyed this franchise. A perfect example when both the coach and GM are clueless as they orchestrated some of the worst drafts in franchise history, which decimated the roster.

The Fisher/Snead combo was an example of a quality GM's efforts being hampered with a flawed coach who had too much power.

Now we have a great coach with a very good GM, who has also learned from his early mistakes. Thus we have ourselves a winner and top level franchise. Let's hope it lasts!

I think Dallas has their eyes on an offensive assistant from one of the 4 teams still playing.

This one has nothing to do with Linehan but as a mod it cracked me up...

**** ____ Stop posting about Jerry buying a boat! ____ ****

As most fans know, Jerry bought a boat.

It has been posted in new threads almost 15 times so far over the last week .. and no, I am not kidding!

The first few threads were merged into a thread in the Overtime Zone forum and all subsequent threads have been deleted as will any new ones posted.

It's old news. It's been talked about already for a while. It has nothing to do with the Cowboys. Jerry is rich and if many of you had his money, you would likely buy a big boat too so stop acting like it's some huge Cowboys story that will somehow impact how the Cowboys play on the field.

It was the right move.

But as we saw with Fisher, some head coaches get stuck in the 90’s with their run first approach, and OC’s become the scapegoat.

Garrett’s mentality isn’t take what the defense gives you, it’s run the ball till you wear them down.

Go watch “All or nothing”. Garrett is Jeff Fisher’s evil twin.

Inside the mind of Scott Linehan:

"We didn't tackle well today but we made up for it by not blocking."

Funny note. I dated and am still dear friends with a girl that married his nephew. What a dork. I think she wanted me to rush up to the altar and save her. NOPE!
