This topic is a lot more interesting than usual given that we finally have a rookie QB to track vs his peers. There's some funny ass vids out this week on youtube so will start throwing them in here as I make my way through them. Will start with dumbass since he goes through all their performances in preseason week one:

Wow an hour and a half of simms?

I will admit he’s gotten a ton better since he started but he’s still a shit bag in my book.

Stetson at 30:10.

I will say this, his assessment of Bennett is similar to mine. I believe they don't view Bennett as the heir apparent to Stafford. If he can become that then fine. But he was drafted to be the backup. And he's showing that he's more capable of running the offense than previous backups. If Stafford goes down we won't be in as bad shape as we were with Wolford and Perkins.

Back up and maybe bridge QB if they can't get a top caliber pick in the next few yrs or they don't go the FA/ trade route at some point.

I think it's smart to temper your expectations in preseason. QBs are looking at vanilla defenses and second and string players. However draft status and passing the eye test only goes so far when playing QB. I'm not saying stetson is gonna be the next drew brees but don't count the dude out. He's always overachieved

The most impressive thing is he shook off the early nerves and looked very composed for the rest of the game.

I just wish he could put on 20 lbs of muscle and grow an inch, but that ain't happening for 25 yr old.

He'll definitely gain weight. And height is definitely overrated, plenty of HOF QBs that way otherwise.

I dunno, Goff never gained much weight and he was 21 when he got here.

He isn't built like Mayfield or even Brees. Just very slightly built.

I can handle Simms a lot better than when paired with Foolio. I just can’t stand looking at Foolio so that interferes with the rare good take that Simms/he had.

Finally saw the game. Bennett appears to have a very quick throwing motion. The darts he was throwing on the slant passes were put right on the receiver and they got it in stride. The Niners will probably want to trade for him.

100%. I can't do anything but legal content from Foolio and even then I'm blah. Guy is really despicable.

You can't really judge any players after a single preseason game. Now after multiple games, if there's a pattern there, then it probably means something.
That being said, Wolford was terrible and we have a major improvement.

Stetson Bennett is that guy that wakes up pissed at the world carrying a chip on his shoulder and flipping people off on the way to Mcdonalds in the morning.

Hehe. I like that.

Even his college fans were not happy they had to have him playing QB and he led them to consecutive national championships as the QB they didn't want.

Hard not to root for a guy like that. Even now so many think he is only capable of being a backup QB.

The more he is doubted the more he is driven.
