Of course teams are calling, we're stacked at WR and they want to see if we're interested. Bobby trees will be ready by next season, obj won't. I don't think Jerfferson did himself any favors during the Super bowl. If we REALLY want to "run it back", bobby trees needs to be here.

You guys are getting ahead of yourselves giving this any credibility.

First question what is the dead money if he is moved?
Yeah, i still see Jefferson as having more trade value because he is cheap and from the Rams side no real dead money. And he kind of disappeared in the last few games when it mattered.

Then after next yr they may have to move on from Woods if Beckham is signed and maybe even if they don't sign Beckham.

reality is him and Stafford lacked chemistry and we won without him so the non emotional decision is easy.

But damn it’s gonna hurt if/when he goes.

Woods is a good guy, good player and good teammate. If we have to part ways with him, I'm glad he collected a super bowl ring before leaving.

Having a ring will definitely reduce the sting. But he had to know it would go that way when he got the money. Again look at his contract structure and his age. Why people keep thinking Jefferson would be on the block makes no sense. Trading Woods would make Robinson's money a wash but an upgrade due to Robinson's age. OBJ had he been healthy also would have made Woods expendable.

It wouldn't surprise me if Woods is offered as part of a trade for Hunter. The Vikings are basically 2 deep at WR. Their SWR KJ Osborn only started 9 games last year (his only starts) with an inconsistent year plagued by some drops. Woods would be a huge upgrade, and would serve as a bridge WR allowing them to draft a WR in other than the first round. After this year Wood's dead cap drops by 50% for the final 3 years making him easily released if need be. Their third and 4th round this year (the Vikings don't have a 4th pick), second round next year. The Rams are handicapped by not having a 2nd round pick. But the Vikings can cash in those picks to trade up; such as the Rams 104 & 142 + Vikings 205 gets them into the bottom of the 2nd round. Or the two Ram picks allow them to move up 6 spots at the bottom of the 3rd round. So it's not as cheap as it looks because they have a lot of picks in the 6th and 7th round that will allow them to move up further. Woods and 3 picks is a lot but Hunter is more than worth it especially long-term. Of course if they can get a 2nd for Woods that would make the deal even better.

If Woods isn't in their plans beyond this year or next year then moving him now makes sense.

Woods to the Vikings makes a lot of sense. O'Connell wants to bring a great culture to Minnesota. Woods knows his system and would be a great mentor to Justin Jefferson and certainly help Cousin's.
They likely would trade one away first as they have a good WR corp.

I'm a bit torn...

Surely we can afford an EDGE and CB along with keeping Woods?

After the Super Bowl and thinking back on the season, I'm VERY down on Van Jefferson. I think he's a JAG with some speed and offers nothing else. I'd rather just not re-sign OBJ and keep Woods I think.

I agree but.... he got a lot better compared to his first season so maybe he makes another jump in his third season. Either way he's still on a rookie contract.

Anything is possible in the NFL.

I didn't think the Rams would trade Woods. Of course, I didn't think they would be able to get a WR like Robinson. That makes it easier to take. As long as Woods gets paid for a couple of years on his contract it will take the sting out of leaving the Rams. It's always what is best for the team. Woods was a big part of the culture change for McVay and the Rams organiztion.

It would still be interesting if they kept him. It's another wait and see what happens. The Rams still need another Edge pass rusher.

People have been trying to get rid of Woods since he was signed. "Didnt get on well with Stafford"? He was on pace for over 1000 yards. If the metric is "not doing as well as Cooper Kupp", might as well trade every other receiver in the league.

Think of Robinson as just getting someone who will go up and make contested catches for the 50/50 balls Stafford trusts his recievers to win.

Trading Woods or Jefferson makes the most sense. They were taking calls on Woods last year.

I love Robert Woods, he carries a decent cap number and is coming off a torn ACL. I woukdnt be hurt if they traded him.

I'll always appreciate him being apart of the culture that changed the organization.

I still see Van Jefferson being a chance to be traded too (1, not both)

Yeah, he seems a little more "jaggy" to me now. Is he just benefitting from a great system, but he offers not so much himself?

I would hope maybe he is traded now because his value will get lower next yr being the last yr of his contract and sitting behind Kupp & Robinson and maybe Woods or Odell. Plus he blocks Harris from reps.

Also, he will want to leave after that. May as well get something now.

There is an 8 million dead money hit if they trade Woods according to some. Next winter it will be 4 million. It seems prudent to wait until next year, but I guess it depends on how much they want an edge.

Does it make sense for two teams trying to save money to swap expensive contracts? *shrug*

I’m going to guess that a Stafford, Kupp, and Donald contract extension will mean that the Rams are going to need to shed some contracts next winter. Maybe they’ll want to give it one more shot with this group, and simply are taking calls like we’ve heard about Woods every off season. Losing Miller hurts, but will McVay concede a piece of the offense to get an edge rusher?

This is why I have ZERO problem with Von Miller taking the Bills deal. Teams are going to do what’s best for them 100% of the time. Doesn’t matter how special a player is to the organization, how gut wrenching it might be for the fans….if a team can improve via trade, they will do it. So yeah I have no problem with a player prioritizing self over team when it comes to contracts. Teams do the same.

That said, this *is* the best move for LA imo. Also super curious what else is coming. Jourdan was pretty clear on Twitter and in her piece yesterday that more stuff is coming.

We all know the Rams love to wheel and deal but it’s a guessing game at this point because it’s rarely the obvious.

Yes, my guess is Robinson's cap number is not bad this yr, but next yr would be more of an issue with 3 high paid WR's.

Of course teams are calling about Roberts Woods (and Jefferson, I suspect) after the Robinson signing. It is natural to assume that the Rams could now be ready to part with a big-name WR after the Robinson acquisition. Even many Rams fans suspected as much.

Personally, I do not suspect that the team is looking to move Woods. I look at Robinson as more of: (1) an insurance policy, with Woods (and OBJ, if he returns) coming off an ACL injury at a somewhat older age; (2) a big body, physical, contested catch specialist that should mesh with Stafford and is something the team currently lacks; (3) McVay always wanting more and more weapons, and in particular, at least 3 potent WRs on the field at all times. So I suspect the Rams are not looking to move Woods.

Woods and Robinson are very different WRs. Woods' role in this offence is very unique, and I don't see anyone that can fully replicate it.

But like almost any other player in the NFL, if the right offer is presented, it could make sense to move Woods. There are some exceptions where you pretty much could never move the guy (AD, Mahomes). But if teams are calling, maybe it ends up leading to something that was not originally in the plans. We'll see.
