Fuck I love me some Robert Quinn! But as others have said him being a one trick pony after a certain amount of years was his downfall. He never developed anything else of note.

I’ll never forget his sack celebration!

Well, sure. I wasn't denigrating Quinn...but Donald is held more than any defensive player than I have every seen and that is not stopping him from insane production. Quinn was really good, but Donald is otherworldy.

dbrock said it first & then yourself. I’ll disagree on the holding calls with AD.He does get held for sure. I’d say Robert Quinn’s were very obvious & it would totally take him out of the play.

I’d also like to look at McSnead. Traded guys at perfect times. Snead finds a way. Quinn & mermaid Hayes. Peters & Talib. Cooks - then not resigning Sammy .

Trading 4 Fowler then signing Floyd.Da Bears signed R.Quinn after he went to Miami & then the Cowboys. How he got his contract & and The Rams signed Floyd & now Floyd $65 million.

I’m excited to see Floyd as an ascending player & Ramsey being a DAWG. The Rams core defense is in good shape.Floyd might get 10 plus this season.

Are you kidding me? It's an inside joke about holding the Olinemen can get away with and it ahappens almost every play with AD. You saw it with Quinn also, but he did not get held more than Donald. That's absurd.

As far as being taken out of the play by the holding, that shows AD's superiority to Quinn and shouldn't be used an excuse as to magnify holding calls against Quinn. AD is on another stratosphere as far as durability goes...

I hate Cop-Outs!! Just going to look at GBay game.IMO he list that game.

1.double team - over poay
2.DT - nothing quick pass right side
3.puts hands on OG shoulders,9yard run
4.came up on LG hands tight.separation & if a hold? There is no hold.Hands are inside,2 feet apart & RB goes by a weak attempt of his short arms reach.3 yrd run & 1stdwn.
5.slips off the ball.Left DT spot.right hand slap to OG’s helmet.pass offf.12yrd pass.
6.Sits out- Incomplete pass
7.Sits out 3yrd gain
8.sits out -12 man declined 14 yrds.
9. Sits out Gaines/Reeder 2yrd loss.2nd 5.
10.sits out Incomplete
11.sits out - great play Troy Reeder.
11 play drive 3-0 GBay.

Maybe 1 hold that would never get called even if it was John Sullivan.

1.LDT/DE -puts head down,SJD makes play.
2.RDt/DE. Run on right side .3-1.nothing
3.nothing. Ran r,.ight at him 1st dwn. Can’t even give true effort.
4.play action,.protecting run,but you could say got held.SJD putting pressure on.AD was playing NT/LDT.

My point is mute -/Aaron Donald is an amazing player, and as of now a 1st. Ballot HOF player.Just not big on excuses.

Robert Quinn had 1 season where I thought he was going to be one of the Best DE edge rushers ever.He got injured & somethings in his Life went down ?? He takes a Stance against The USA & his sister ate crap on a hurdle so she didn’t make it to the Olympics.
He has always been a class player & a solid Ram player.I personally think chewing tobacco is not a thing I like in NFL players.Quinn & Goff are gone.I liked what Michael Brockers did in a Rams uniform & hope there teams beat Green Bay in 2021.

Aaron Donald works so hard & looking to enjoy his leadership. Floyd is showing ownership on Defense .
Matthew Stafford is a Player I respect & glad is a Ram as well.

RAMSey over JJ leading the DB’s.

—Holding calls is another thing.I think the rule of thumb as a Offensive Lineman is as long as your hands are kept inside your body it’s okay.Just as long as you let go without being obsessive.-I actually like the way holding is called or not called.
—I hate when a DE/OLB/DT ?? Whoever beats the OLman & the hands/arms come around the player.

An example is a 6’6 310 guy on the outside vs a 258 guy. There arms & weight just make it unfair when they get beat. That is why having a guy like Stafford vs. Goff will make a difference. Stepping up & around the pass rush while seeing the field should make a huge difference.

I look at Havenstien as an example of using his arms & size without holding. In basketball there is a physical thing of bigs vs smalls & what is a foul/violation? IMO AD does not get held all the time.He does get his calls on average.

I’d say AD gets double teamed & account for WAY more than Quinn. With Quinn you could always put a RB & step up as a QB or screen ? Block him or run at him.He was not a good run defender.

I like both of them!

Donald is being considered an all-time great. Some are saying the best to ever play the position. Announcers say teams can't play him one on one which they rarely do. He gets double and even triple-teamed a lot. Even with that, he gets held a lot of the time.

Quinn was a great player for the Rams. IIRC Chris Long stated he was gumpy, contorting his body to get low and moving around OTs. The year he had 19 sacks he closed out a lot of games with a sack. That was on an average team. It's a shame he hurt his back. OTs used a chokehold to try and stop him a lot of the time.

The one's I wish they would call are the ones where Donald is held from behind.

That happens quite frequently and it only gets called maybe 20% of the time (yes I am guessing on that but I bet I am pretty close).

To be fair Donald is much closer to the qb than Quinn was so being held and taken out of the play by illegal hoods are more obvious then a pile of bodies in the middle. Not to mention the way the pocket collapses forces the qbs to move inside. So if Quinn is being held around his back and neck then it’s easier for the QB to step out this having Quinn being out of the play

Donald may be closer, but he has to beat the tightly compacted big uglies in front of him, who can hold him inside making it harder for Refs to see it. Quinn had to beat the LT and maybe a RB or TE, if they doubled him. Donald has to be doubled or the QB is gonna get killed every time until they do....or almost every time.

Best defensive player in The NFL the last 5 seasons if not the 10.JJ Watt had a good run 10 years ago.Hope he doesn’t show up in Arizona.

I remember Spags actually used Tuck at DT because The Rams guards were so bad.Bulger got beat up against the Giants.I don’t see the game like yourself & others.Inside the trenches are different.
Shanahan had a great call that beat The Rams the last time they played. He had a TE lined up on the LWR spot.Came in motion, when he passed QB snapped.the LT & LG dived down on SJD69 the guard got ahold of him.took him into Floyd & pancaked SJD69 so Floyd couldn’t come across. The LT went from SJD69 to Reeder/2nd level. The TE coming across blew up AD99 enough to buckle back. 3-1 closed the clock out after a 5 yard gain.

There a certain plays teams prepare for. AD99 gets game planned right away. The Bears messed up with Floyd.
I just hate when a guy gets beat & then gets away with a clear penalty that effects the play.Sometimes I’m sure AD is happy he takes 2 OL players out of a play & is glad he got held.

You chose the game AD was playing injured to evaluate... How very fair of you
