Also signals they're going to either trade Landry or rescind the franchise tag.

Say what you will, but Robert Quinn is worth more than we gained in return.
And I am not convinced at all that it makes us better this year.
I understand it, but this wasnt about performance, this was about our cap space.
Quinn is under 30, and its not a fluke that as he recovered from surgery he became more and more like his old self.
His "1 move" has been effective.

If you ever met Rob Quinn, you would know there isnt a better, kinder guy on the team. I have seen him give away every scrap he could take from his uniform to young kids after games on multiple occaisions.

Good luck in Miami, Black Lightning.

I agree. I am disappointed. There isn't a guy in FA who can do what Quinn can. That means we're going to have to spend a premium draft pick replacing him. I'm not a fan of the move. But with the Peters trade, I can't complain about how things have gone.

I would bring him back for vet leadership as they break in a rookie and develop Ekuban. Actually, I see him as a perfect mentor for the two young OLBs. Knows the system and what Philips expects at that position. Takes some pressure away from having to force a late 1st rounder, and may even be a guy picked later... into a starting role day one.

I never thought they were realistic for him anyway. Better to get a less expensive QB and build around him. Cousins is likely down to a handful of teams, with the Vikings most likely.

Wouldn't be surprised if they unloaded Landry & Tannehill and move up in the draft for Baker Mayfield. Cleveland is sitting in a great spot with the #1 and #4 picks with teams like Arizona, NYJ & Miami possibly competing in the QB sweepstakes. jmo.

I hope we do something well with this money and late round picks. IMO we didn't get better, only saved money and created another hole.

Luckily, Snead is a magician so we'll see. I'm sure MANY of us were worried about our line and WRs until the LATE arrival of Sullivan and Watkins. Big bucks, no whammys, Snead, let's go!

When Quinn went to the Pro Bowl in 2013, he was the first Ram defensive player to play in that game in a decade. Most of the 2000s consisted of lousy rushing defenses and over the hill pass rushers that couldn't get in the same area code as the QB.

I used to watch the defensive talent being drafted by other teams with green eyed envy, but when we got Quinn, finally we had something that other teams and their fans were jealous of. Our own Simeon Rice. Damn shame injuries had to wreck that, but even a diminished Quinn was our 2nd best pass rusher.

Sorry to see him go.

Why are proven veterans/Pro Bowlers worth mid-round picks when most mid-round picks don't make the Pro Bowl?
Because what they did years ago isn’t worth what a 4th rounder can give next year. And the cap relief buys another vet possibly one of our own

It sucks but Donald, Joyner and Watkins need to be locked up. Then Gurley next year. Can't keep everybody.

The drop off to longacre wasn't that steep last season. Hopefully ebukam is ready for a bigger workload.

We had the money to lock all three up. Quinn would have been gone after the next year or the year after. I trust Snead, McVay, and Phillips, but I don't like opening up another hole on the roster.

So long, Mighty One.

Ironically, I heard it first from a Ram brother in the media. Driving home from work listening to KFBK, when “The Sports Guy Pat Walsh” came on for the sports update and first reported the Whiners won the coin toss with the Raiders for the #9 pick.

Then he hit me with it, “...and the Rams have traded Robert Quinn to the dolphins for a mid round pick...”

Wow. I could tell Pat was disappointed too. I could hear it in his voice. Pat and I watched a few Rams games together at a sports bar back in the GSOT era. He’s pretty vocal about his Ram fandom here in the Sacramento media. I’m surprised he’s lasted this long in Niner-land.

I’m pretty bummed. I thought Quinn was getting his old self back. Sigh.

I know people are gonna miss Quinn. I get that, I’ve been missing him for a couple years now.
That Quinn ain’t coming back.
Now the Rams have more cap room, a 4th rounder and can look for a true 3-4 olb. I’m liking moving Tree back outside

I agree. I also think they got people targeted and are pretty flexible this year compared to last where they don't have to focus on just getting the O to a modern era! lol I'm excited and think we have people targeted we are going to be surprised with. Unlike past regimes, this ones got their shit together!
