I disagree on who they should have thrown to in the above play.

The back receiver should have stayed back in that scenario and be the primary receiver with a quick throw. I think it is Woods who is the back receiver in the above picture. I can't tell exactly.

Anyway, let's assume it is Woods. If Woods stayed still and Goff immediate throws to his right around the oncoming rusher from the right, We have two blockers on three players. It would take a sec for the back defense to recover and I think that would have been an easy 5 yards if not an outright TD if Goff threw immediately to Woods against that defense.

Seems obvious Hendo was supposed to pick up that blitzer. What else would make sense from the play design? Was he thinking he would drag that defender into coverage?

I remember in 2017 Goff would just toss it over blitzers' heads to Gurley. Ds had no answer.

So the play design had no contingency built in for an edge rusher? That's the part I don't get.

Or maybe Goff was supposed to pass it over that defender to Hendo?

The game turned on this play. About to score to go up 14-7, instead, we're down 7-14. 1/2 of a quarter later, we're down 28-7 on another scoop and (almost) score, and a punt return TD.

I have 2 questions on this play. Why on Earth doesn't Hendo chip or block? It's a TD if he does. Even if he doesn't do this, why doesn't Goff throw to WIDE OPEN crosser? Even pre-snap, this would be wide open by design. Look where the D starts out.

I blame Halloween. This 1/2 quarter was conjured by some voodoo BS.

this might have been the lack of execution mcvay was speaking of

Doesn't mean that it was designed that way. mcvay said they had many misalignments ect.

I have been thinking about this play a lot because Miami ran this defense a lot yesterday. What if Goff threw a lateral to one of the wide receivers Or Akers preferably and made it a run pass option. In addition who would cover Goff if he ran to the left and all the receivers trailed to the right. I think Goff would be wide open on that play or be attempted to be covered by a defensive end. That defense looked like a perfect recipe for a trick play.

In addition in answer to your question, on a bubble screen if they did that I would not have Reynolds go right. I would have him go to the left.

It was also 160 degrees on the sideline during the first half.

Just saying...
