The Rams waived safety Isaiah Johnson on Tuesday. Johnson appeared in six games for Los Angeles since the 2016 season. In the first two games of 2018, Johnson recorded one tackle in Week 2 against the Cardinals.

Johnson moved between practice squad and the active roster throughout his time with the Rams.

After cutting both Johnson and quarterback Brandon Allen, the Rams now have 51 players on their active roster.

T Darrell Williams Jr. Signed

Additionally, the Rams signed Western Kentucky product Darrell Williams Jr. to the practice squad following his tryout on Tuesday. Williams was previously with the San Francisco 49ers.

49ers roster breakdowns, 90-in-90: OL Darrell Williams

Breaking down the 90 players on the 49ers offseason roster in 90 posts (over 90 or so days). We move on to offensive lineman Darrell Williams

Each year, we run a series of post called "90-in-90" here at Niners Nation. The idea is that we'll take a look at every single player on the roster, from the very bottom to the top and break them down a few different ways. This is to help give everyone a basic understanding of a roster. Of course, this roster will change, and some days we'll have more than one so it's not strictly one per day but you get the idea.

The dog days of the NFL summer have arrived, and with five weeks remaining until training camp, we’ll be pulling from any and all sources we can to find content. The 90-in-90 series is fortunately one option that will keep us busy. There are plenty of notable names to discuss, but every so often we’ll hit on a name that has fans thinking, “Who?”

Following the 2017 NFL draft, the 49ers signed their rookie free agent class. In those moves and subsequent adds and drops, the 49ers added four offensive lineman. Western Kentucky right tackle Darrell Williams is one of them.

Williams played right tackle this past season, but played extensively at right guard as a junior. The 6’5, 315 pound prospect started all 14 games as a senior, as part of an offensive line that had the seventh-best sack percentage nationally, and second best among teams with 500 or more passing attempts. The Hilltoppers broke the school total offense record for the third consecutive season.

Scouting reports
Appeared in 46 games during his five years (2012-16) at Western Kentucky. Started in 38 consecutive games over his final three seasons along the offensive line for the Hilltoppers. As a senior in 2016, was part of an offensive line that paved the way for a seventh-consecutive 1,000-yd. rusher. In 2015, started all 14 games at right tackle, anchoring the right side of an offensive line that finished the year ranked 19th nationally in sacks allowed, with just 16 sacks on 554 pass atts., the 7th-best percentage nationally and second among teams with 500-or-more atts. During the 2014 season, he started 10 straight games at right guard, helping pave the way for 2,018 all-purpose yds. from RB Leon Allen. Saw action in 7 games in 2013, starting the final three at right tackle. Redshirted in 2012. Attended West Laurens (Dexter, GA) HS, where he finished his career starting 31-consecutive games at offensive tackle. He lettered all four years in football and basketball. Born 3/24/93 in Dublin, GA.

Going to be Allen no?

If he clears waivers, yes. Really was hoping there was a spot for Demby, oh well, they must of really liked this Darrell Williams.

So who is being added to the 53? I already see Ficken listed. Brown is presumably one - who's the other?

I think your right, if they add Allen to the PS. If it goes like that maybe a lot of us were wrong thinking the rams were trying to get Demby on the PS

So we have 51 guys signed to the 53 man roster. Wonder who takes the last 2 spots?

What are the chances they end up signing another Darrell Williams who's a tackle and a fringe NFL player?

And I never heard on here think Demby looked so bad that they wouldn't even bother trying to coach him up.

Then our back up OTs could be Darrell, Darrell, and Joe.

For you young guys, that's an old Newhart sitcom reference.

Maybe they are thinking of claiming Demby...Highly doubtful, most likely adding a WR to the 53 man roster.

Watched the last 10 minutes of the final episode of Newhart on YouTube earlier this evening. One of the greatest endings to a sitcom ever.
