Quarterback

St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford delivered a near-perfect performance on Sunday at the Houston Texans in an effort that was befitting of a No. 1 overall pick.

On the afternoon, Bradford went 12 of 16 (75 percent) with no interceptions and a trio of touchdown strikes. His passer rating of 134.6 was the best to date of his four-year career.

As impressive as his day was, it could have been better if not for a should-have-been 80-yard touchdown connection that was dropped by wide receiver Chris Givens.

Through Week 6, No. 8 is off to the best start of his career. If the season ended today, his quarterback rating (90.7), touchdown rate (5.6 percent) and interception rate (1.3 percent) would stand as career bests.

If Bradford continues to play like he did in Houston, St. Louis will continue to win games and push toward playoff contention heading into December.

Grade: A

Running Back

St. Louis finally got its once-beleaguered running game untracked last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, nobody knew for sure if the 143 ground yards attained vs. the Jags were representative of true progress or a bounty of fool’s gold reaped by pillaging the league’s worst rushing defense.

This week, the Rams showed that their new thunder (Zac Stacy) and lightning (Daryl Richardson) attack was indeed real.

Stacy, a fifth-round rookie whom ESPN’s Todd McShay touted as the back with the best vision and patience of any runner entering the 2013 NFL draft, again excelled in a starter’s role.

Seems pretty dead on to me. Good read.

My only scepticism is still that the coaching doesn't use TA or DR effectively. You run a screen to the right to DR for 18 yards and never see it again. Up the middle every other DR play for probably less than 18 yards total. You run it to the left with Givens for 12 yards and never see it again. Nothing like that at all for TA. Perhaps that will come in time. Perhaps not.
