With the start of the offseason program on Monday, the Rams have signed restricted free agent safety Blake Countess and the team's five tendered exclusive rights free agents.

As a RFA, Countess was tendered at the original-round level in March but did not receive an offer sheet on the open market. He signed his one-year contract on Monday.

Exclusive-rights free agents defensive end Morgan Fox, defensive back Dominique Hatfield, wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge, returner JoJo Natson, and defensive back Kevin Peterson all signed their one-year deals on Monday.

Of the group, both Fox and Peterson are returning from season-ending knee injuries suffered during the 2018 offseason program and 2018 training camp, respectively.

Natson was Los Angeles’ primary punt returner last year, before also assuming kick return duties late in the season. Natson averaged 10.8 yards per punt return and 18.0 yards per kick return.

Hatfield appeared in 10 2018 games, and Hodge appeared in 14 — with both mainly playing special teams. Hodge did make a pair of receptions for 17 yards.

Head coach Sean McVay is scheduled to address the media at noon on Monday to start the Rams' offseason program.

I really hope that we sign Littleton to a long-term deal. He deserves it.

Why am I getting the impression The Rams draft a MLB at 31 or early 2nd if they trade back ?? I always go into drafts finding The Rams biggest needs.Les Snead over the years has come close to draft a great one such as Wagner from the Seahags.
My reasoning is not signing the FA LBers & cutting Barron.

Hatfield is a big time Les Snead guy.I like M. Peterson. There is another CB from Okst. Who might be a sleeper during ota’s

Morgan Fox is a pure baller & knows how to get to the QB. He’ll fit in with Weddle & Matthews. Hair alone.

Countess has been a solid special teams guy & will add depth.

The 2 WR signings are a cheap Tavon Austin
Way to go.

Wondering about Shields,Hager,Wilson & Littleton.

Not Good

Murphy has been injured a lot since he came into the NFL drafted by Packers. If healthy he might be a fair swing OT this season.
Gotta be healthy, if not it doesn’t matter how much potential you have. I’m guessing he’s not healthy for this mini camp which led to this.

Mixed feelings about the Countess re-sign.

He seems to be an ascending player. However, I’m still ticked about his two blatant, dangerous cheap shots— one to Marquise Goodwin, the other to Coby Fleener. The hit on Fleener ended his career.

He hasn’t had any incidents since then, so I hope Countess has learned to stop with the flagrant head-hunting.

That Fleener hit was pretty bad but wouldn't say it ended his career. But the Goodwin hit wasn't a cheap shot by any means.

I don't have a problem with the Goodwin hit/tackle.

except that it did end his career. he had to retire due to concussions, with the countess hit keeping him out the rest of the season.

Except that hit wasn’t the only one he took. One Blake Countess hit didn’t end his career, it was the culmination. If he never was hit before do you think it would have ended his career?

Garoppolo led Goodwin right into that hit. That's football.
The Goodwin hit was borderline, I guess.

The Fleener hit was definitely a cheap shot, though. Towards the end of the replay, you can see Countess pausing to line up a shot to the head.

BTW, Countess was fined 48k for the shot to Goodwin since he was a “repeat offender.”

I can see how ppl would think the Goodwin hit was ok. I don’t have personal experience playing DB, so I couldn’t really judge that one since it was such a quick bam-bam play. Slants to the middle happen all the time in the RZ, but I rarely see a WR get destroyed like that.

I think we can all agree the Fleener hit was a cheap shot though, right? Regardless, Countess hasn’t had any incidents since then.

No. But it put the final 10 nails in the coffin. I hate it when a rams player puts on a dirty shot like that.
