Rams rookie review: Week 10

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- A look at playing time and production of the St. Louis Rams' rookie class in Sunday's 31-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
OL Greg Robinson, first round, No. 2 overall: Robinson made his second consecutive start at left tackle and, much like the rest of the offensive line, had some bumps along the way. He played all 62 offensive snaps and two more on special teams. Robinson will be fine over the long haul but he's going to have his share of bruises to show for it, especially against a heavy blitzing defense like Arizona's.
DT Aaron Donald, first round, No. 13 overall: Donald finished with three tackled, including another run stop in the backfield, while playing 41 defensive snaps and six more on special teams. He was mostly his usual, disruptive self but didn't have quite as many impact plays as he's had in recent weeks. Still one of the team's most productive defenders.
DB Lamarcus Joyner, second round, No. 41 overall: Joyner's day essentially started and ended with a big missed opportunity. Early in the second quarter, Joyner came free on a blitz with Carson Palmer in his crosshairs. But Joyner not only failed to bring Palmer down but suffered a groin injury on the play. He did not return and managed to play just five snaps on offense and seven on special teams before departing.
RB Tre Mason, third round, No. 75 overall: Mason again started at running back and was also again the primary ballcarrier. He played 38 offensive snaps, most amongst the running backs, and finished with 14 carries for 48 yards, an average of 3.4 yards per attempt. He still misses the occasional seam but against Arizona's stout run defense, he didn't have much room to operate in the first place.
S Maurice Alexander, fourth round, No. 110 overall: Alexander was a pregame inactive against Arizona.
CB E.J. Gaines, sixth round, No. 188 overall: Gaines again started but had an interesting day overall. He had two outstanding pass breakups in the end zone and finished with three passes defended to go with his four tackles and a tackle for loss. He played 64 of a possible 66 defensive snaps and chipped in on 11 more special teams plays. When Joyner departed, he shifted into more of a nickel role, offering the type of versatility that has made him a nice late-round find for the Rams.
C Demetrius Rhaney, seventh round, No. 250 overall: Rhaney is on injured reserve for the season with a knee injury.
Undrafted rookie roundup: Tight end Alex Bayer, cornerback Marcus Roberson, running back Trey Watts and defensive lineman Ethan Westbrooks were pregame inactives.
