A lot of excitement for a sixth round pick that we don't even know if he can play or not at this point.

M cVay and Kromer are both excited to get him back so that's good enough for me. He said they knew it was a risk putting him on the PS but their hand was forced. Kind of like it was forced with releasing Brown.

Far enough.
They have seen him we have not.
They put him on the roster as opposed to the PS.
The OL certainly had more depth with Brown.
Didn't want to see him go but it hasn't been the end of the world, that's all I'm saying.

I am with McVay on expanding the game day rosters. The tight limits don’t reward teams for finding late round picks, FA, and UDFAs to back up.

It doesn’t reward these backups by them being required to be inactive. They have no shot at live game action, and cannot show if they’ve improved, thus leading to future starting jobs. Which limits and pigeon holes them into a back up role and also makes it easier for a team to hide developing talent.

I get that the league wants parity but it’s a tough game. Do they want teams to essentially forfeit if a disaster occurs, like losing multiple players at one position? The Rams were down to one RB in Detroit. The Oline was hurting in Chicago. How does it make the game better by limiting the number of active players each week? Seems like backwards thinking.
I would like to see game day and overall rosters expanded.
This would mean the owners spending more money of course.
Also, would lead to depth being spread thinner or it may lead to some guys being allowed to develop who had been previously released.

Adding Demby in place of Hatfield is good in the short term and it gets him back on the roster for 2019. He has some potential. Maybe not as a starter but possibly as their 6th or 7th OL next year depending on how things shake out.

Releasing Brown has had no affect at all.
Saffold missed five plays vs Chicago and Brown wouldn't play C. Although Blythe could slide to C and Brown to RG.
He's a good lineman with a weakness pass blocking. He is not Nate Newton for Gods sake.

No doubt. Not to mention the fact he is a FA here shortly and he didn't fit in their salary cap plan.

Snead may be in a state of depression due to having only one 6th rd selection in the 2019 draft. He had four or five last year before the dust settled or...............

As Free Agency & the future draft inches day by day closer he see's where 2 of his former 2018 high $$$$ UFA departed for other teams... Sammy Watkins continues to build on his long resume of lost of playing time & low productivity on the field due to injury, along with Trumaine Johnson. Snead had placed the Rams Org. in good shape where these two UFA's would bring future value added back to the Rams coffins by way of pending awarded Compensation picks. It was expected that Snead would be awarded two 3rd. round comp selections.

Jamil Demby { LG/ RG/ RT} who he selected might give him some comfort & solace since they can see him as a new 6th rd pick coming back. Conditions @ this time in the OL unit have raised the Rams awareness thus we see them reacting to procure another NFL Practice Team OL'er to the master roster. Demby's future in the NFL will be @ OG not OT where he played in college.

Currently the Rams only have 4 draft picks. The major weakness in this 2019 Ram draft is he has only one selection in the first two talent rich days of the draft. I would bet that all of our awarded three Compensation picks will be 3rd day (late 4th rd late 4th rd & a late 7th rd.) draft picks too. I am glad Demby has returned.

I never cared for this nonsense of inactive players. In a collision sport like football you need the entire roster at all times.

Good for Demby. No one really knows what Demby will become in the NFL. At least the Rams see some potential. At Six Ft Five Inches weighing @ the combine 321 Lbs he has good size. If he gets into the NFL weight training he could become starter. Excited to see what Kromer can do with him>

If Blythe takes over the OC post, Noteboom fills the vacant LG post then the RG post would be the most likely the OL post in contention between Demby & Allen.

I agree, Demby appeared back in pre season to be somewhat out of shape & thick around the middle. for a young 21 yr old. His size is close physically to Rodger Saffold was back in 2009. Demby did play a ton in pre season. Seeing most of his work on the right side @ OG & OT. He did start the 4th gm @ RT & looked good there IMO. Demby play a ton of Left side in college.

Maybe a refresher course on Jamil Demby, might be a good thing to do here? Below are some of the Draft Scout analysts comments on Demby:

JD has...
*intelligence and ability to punch, move his feet, and anchor in pass protection make him an intriguing prospect.
* is a well-built, wide-framed college tackle who projects inside to guard.
* experience at tackle &his traits in pass protection could help him stand out for a pass-heavy offense looking to shore up a leaky interior.

* possesses next-level size and strength and is a solid position blocker
* explosive at the point and effective with his hands
* keeps his feet moving throughout the action. Stays square.
* Effective as a position blocker who seals opponents from the action. Quick and keeps his head on a swivel.

Jemil Demby Is A Developmental Guard With Strength
https://www.detroitlionspodcast.com/zachary-warber/2018/04/26/jamil-demby-2018-draft-class/

What Will Jemil Demby Need To Develop In The NFL?
Coming from a smaller program and playing poor competition at Maine puts Jemil Demby at a disadvantage heading into the 2018 NFL Draft. His size is NFL-caliber at 6’5″, 335 lbs, and has the type of size and arm length combination that is coveted by Lions general manager Bob Quinn. However, much of his technical ability is still quite raw and will need a year or two to refine his technique before being trusted with a starter role.

Demby’s hand usage and pad level to this point have been wildly inconsistent. Granted, it was not necessary for his success in college, but it will be paramount to his development in the pros. Hand placement is so crucial to winning the leverage battle early on in the trenches. Working on his hand usage and widening his base will go a long way into turning around his technical skill. When he narrows his base his ability to drive block is minimized. Which leads to blocks being shed earlier than the play is designed for, which led to blown up runs on occasion.

Why Demby Is Worth The Development
As previously mentioned, while his school is small, his size can be quite imposing. When he had his initial hand positioning right, he absolutely dominated defenders in college. His motor will never be questioned as he plays through the whistle on nearly every down. Has a strong mean streak. Demby’s end goal of each play genuinely seems to be to put the defender into the ground.

His hands are absolutely violent. He has a more natural feel in zone blocking or stretch zone runs than he does straight man blocking. Lateral quickness is better than you would expect for someone of this size. Has an ability to clear defenders completely from the play if he is able to engage second level defenders in the screen game or as a pull blocker.

Moving inside from tackle at a pass-happy school, Demby is much more developed in pass protection than he is as a run blocker. His length, versatility, and pass blocking ability all fit While he may not be called to be a starter in the 2018 season, he has one of the highest ceilings of any offensive line prospect that will be available on day three.
