Gotta love the Saints media's sensational headline on this. Pretty much a non-issue but interesting read. His "parting shot" was actually funny.

Rams QB Jared Goff says Saints crowd was 'disoriently loud' -- then takes parting shot

Jared Goff was complimentary of the New Orleans Saints crowd at Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday in the NFC Championship game, saying the crowd noise impacted the game and describing the overall scene as "chaotic."

"It was disoriently loud, but we fought through it," Goff said in his postgame news conference.

Then came a qualifier that's perhaps true but probably won't sit well with Saints fans.

"It wasn't loud enough I guess," Goff added. (shot fired! :ROFLMAO:)

The Rams quarterback was also fighting communication issues with his helmet at the game's outset.

Before going on the field for his first series, Goff realized the coach-to-quarterback earpiece was on the fritz. He couldn’t get the plays. So he swapped helmet’s with backup quarterback Sean Mannion, also fitted with an earpiece, and ran out to face the Saints.

While the equipment staff worked frantically on his helmet, Goff cupped his hands over his earholes, trying to hear his coach. The Saints showed that on the video board, which only encouraged the crowd to scream louder. When he finally got his helmet back on the next series, he had to tape over the earholes for any prayer of hearing coach Sean McVay.

In case you're wondering -- or knew but you'd forgotten -- the Saints will face Los Angeles in the 2019 season in LA.

Goff is a stud! Such composure.

I can't recall crowd noise ever having such an affect on a visiting team. Frankly, I think it's garbage. I want to see pros play football, not running around like chickens. Really hurts the game if you ask me.

Kind of fitting that the home crowd tried to alter the game with noise levels and whistles to imitate ref whistles and in the end they got “ref’d” AND RAM’D

Since the NFL is allowing the blowing of whistles, the shutdown of communications between visiting coaches and players, laser lights and other distractions, from now on they should allow Rams fans to use the dreaded Vuvuzelas while opposing offenses are on the field.

I just had super happy thoughts of next season's Saints game, where these things are handed out at the gate with instructions to not blow them until the Saints are on offense. That would be the funniest thing ever.

Crowd noise is a legitamite benefit of home field advantage. Fans should be able to get as loud as they want....without the aid of ANY device. I don’t want to Assume so what is the take on how many whistles were part of the deafening Saints fan noise. Whistles were certainly prevelant during the telecast.

It wasn't that dude making the noise. We played in NO earlier in the year. You could hear multiple real whistles.

They tried every way they could to inflate the noise level and it worked for a while.

I think the Aint's aught to hire that savvy lawyer fighting the non-call to piggy-back a hate speech charge against Jared for this....oh wait. I forgot, he isn't still on the Berkeley campus. :neener: :shooting:

What's sad is the crowd noise was a big part of Payton's game plan vs a strategy should his offense sputter. I'll get off his ass when I hear him admit a major factor in his team losing was his offense's inability to counter the Rams defense after the first quarter.

I'm old school and agree on this. I think the whole crowd noise to affect other teams negatively started either with the Saints/Superdome in 1976 or Shehawks/Kingdome in 1978. The "home field advantage" took a swift turn to mean something more during these years. I'm all about having teams playing where they can hear their own voices/signals, home crowd noise be damned. But the Saints have always had that win at all costs mentality this way.... crossing the line of sportsmanship to where it's somehow become acceptable.

Crowd noise is a part of the home field advantage. Hell, the EJD in St Louis was very loud, but I don't remember those fans ever bringing whistles and noise makers to the game. Serves the Aints fans right for trying to cheat.

If they were cheating by using illegal whistles, then they should be disqualified entirely. The Pats should have been disqualified for filming the Rams practices too.

Have you ever seen it that bad? Where you can't hear someone right next to you and the QB has to jog over to the wideout?

Nope never seen or been where it was that bad.

I remember when the crowd noise first started becoming a big factor. The opposing QB would step away from the center to talk to the official, and he'd get a clock stoppage to do that. That brought the noise even more on the next play attempt. I think Ferragamo did this once back in the 80's. These days players just deal with it.

Fans can not sustain that noise throughout the whole game .
