In past seasons, I've hated having to wait for other teams to play to see whether or not we've made the Playoffs or not. This season, even with our recent losses, we at least control our own destiny. We win? We're in!

So assuming we handle our business against the Cardinals, here is who we'd play in "Round 2" on the road (according to Playoff Machine), based on the outcome of the GB, NO, and Seattle game results (all playing at the same time Sunday afternoon)...

EDIT: TB added to mix.

If TB loses, we play WFT regardless if any of these games. If TB wins,

GB wins and NO wins and Seattle wins? We play Seattle.
GB wins and NO wins and Seattle loses? We play Seattle.
GB wins and NO loses and Seattle wins? We play NO.
GB wins and NO loses and Seattle loses? We play Seattle.
GB loses and NO wins and Seattle wins? We play GB.
GB loses and NO wins and Seattle loses? We play Seattle.
GB loses and NO loses and Seattle wins? We play NO.
GB loses and NO loses and Seattle loses? We play Seattle.

I think this is right, but my confidence is shaken like a former All-Pro QB at this point.

That’s a big IF to assume we are basically in the playoffs. The Bears are playing well and are at home. I could see them beating GB. The Rams didn’t beat the Jets at home with Goff , so it’s a big unknown coming Sunday. I’m hoping for the best and prepared for a big letdown.

Wolford is gonna have to play his ass off to beat the Cards. Are we out of playoffs for sure if we lose?

I am just happy GB has something to play for, so Rodgers and company will be on the field and motivated, as opposed to sitting on the sidelines and sipping tea. I think the Packers become the focal point of our playoff strategy. The Wohlford experiment will be interesting. No pressure on the defense at all (*cough*), but a pick-6 or scoop-and-score might be needed to supplement the offense.

After losing to the Jets at home and scoring 0 TDs against the Seahawks the Rams offense would need to improve with a backup QB to beat the Cards. No worries about the defense other than they have to be shaking their heads st their teammates on the other side of the ball.

It's definitely not guaranteed. It's funny though. I keep seeing writeups about Goff's injury saying that he's going to be out for a "must-win" game vs the Cardinals. That's just not accurate either. Unless Murray sits, it's more likely that the Packers beat the Bears than the Rams beat the Cards. Either way, they're in.

Plenty of threads about the Wolford/ win-lose the Cards game, point here is the playoff possibilities assuming they win
Looking more and more like Seattle
Shades of 2004 more and more.
Limped in to the playoffs, beat Seattle in round 1....

Its crazy we can possibly lose last 3 and somehow sneak in.
As crazy as that is, it won't come close to the 86 Jets. They lost their last five in a row, made the playoffs, and then managed to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs.

I think all key teams win incl Rams and we end up back at Seattle

Question:
If the Rams win, and Tampa loses, since we beat them head to head, .... wouldn't we move into the #5 seed?
If so, we'd go to Washington or Dallas for our first playoff game?

Yes.

Best case scenario: Rams win and Atlanta beats Tampa. We move into the 5 seed

Worst case scenario: Rams lose and Chicago wins. We don't make the playoffs.

There are scenarios where we are either the 6 or 7 seed as well, iirc.

All we can do is root for the Rams on Sunday and then do the math afterwards.

As usual, we are going to need our D to ball out to have a chance here. That is, unless Wolford is at least average. We are down our top 2 RB's, our top WR, and our starting QB (who's been bad anyway as of late). If there was ever a time to need a defensive score, its this week.

Agreed. If this defense is as special as we think it is, it should hopefully be able to rise to the occasion. It's one thing when the offense is frustratingly sputtering along, turning the ball over due to dumb mistakes, holding the defense back. But any team that is down its QB1, WR1, RB1, and RB2 is going to need its defense to pick it up to manage a victory. Those offensive positions are the ones that touch the ball the most. It won't be pretty on that side of the ball. It's one game only, and Kyler Murray is uncertain to play. If he does, he might well still be hampered by his leg injury. Let's do this D and get this W!

The title of this thread is a bit misleading lol - Rams still have to win with backups at QB, RB, LT, WR1 or the Bears have to lose. I was 100% sure the Rams would beat the Jets, and we all know what happened. In the last 5 games, the Bears offense is averaging 33pts/game. This is the Bizarro NFL suddenly lol

Yeah, I titled it that way because if we win, we go to next round. If we lose, we're out. Just like the playoffs!

It just starts a week early.

And like you say, with some key components missing...
