Funny because SJD did in fact get snaps all over the Dline. Even better is the Dline coach praising his versatility and ability to play all along the Dline. You won't see SJD with his speed and quickness and the ability to play all over the Dline.
Seabass, with the versatility that he has, to play all the way across the front, coming off a quote-unquote rookie year, being that it was his first time playing, you saw him take the step that you look for from a development standpoint," Henderson said. "And that excites me about him in general.
The Rams are over by about $600K which is normal at this point for a lot of teams. They are over because of Howard and Lawler on IR. They still count against the cap. The real hit is with Robinson's $4.4M cap hit. Now here comes the tricky part. If the Rams can show his heart condition was an undisclosed issue when they signed him they can probably get out of his contract if he isn't likely to play this year. The other part is his dead cap of almost $10M. He must play fairly soon or he must be released with an injury settlement of some kind or the contract should be voided for an undisclosed health issue. It's said to be a heart ailment of some sort. That means he's not likely to play now or anytime soon. IMO they probably are hoping that medication will mitigate the problem which is why they are trying to be patient. I think he has hypertension and that can be medically controlled with a variety of usually oral meds. But they need to establish a baseline and he needs to lose weight. Being out of football all this time means he needs to then get into shape. Either way, it's a drawn-out process. Normally in the signing process, there is a medical clause which means the contract is contingent upon passing a med check. Since he never even practiced with the team that might be there out. This is why I've been saying keeping Hoecht was important and why they went out of their way to slip him through waivers.
Voiding the contract IMO is the best way to go. They have a guy on the PS who can play NT. It will clear not only over $4M in cap this year but also $9.5M next year. I think we will see some clarification this week so I'm not particularly concerned.
Hoecht plays with speed and power. No history of injuries and a standout on his team. You won't see SJD with his speed and quickness and the ability to play all over the Dline. Staley covets versatility and he could have another AD in that he has the power and speed to play all along the front just not NT. Sometimes it looks like he's unblocked but many times its simply he's too quick.
