I feel strongly that Bruss will get his shot with Tremayne Anchrum giving him the most competition unless they both fail and the Rams turn to Coleman Shelton. IMO, Shelton is too valuable as a swing player and being the backup Center too, so they would rather him be the 6th man if you will. Also everyone knows how I feel about Bobby Evans & IMO, A.J. Jackson (McVay called him A.J.) is more of a tackle then Guard, so I see him backing up Noteboom come September.
You put your best five out and have a plan for what happens if someone goes down. If Shelton's better than those guys, he'll start.

He'll have to be signicantly better and if Shelton does start I'm sure if Allen goes down they will move him to Center and then someone else would come into RG. I agree you start your best five, but if it's close, they go with the rookie IMO because of the versatility of Shelton.

Agreed and you are likely correct seeing how McVay is on tape saying during the draft that they need a starter at RG. Now they don't know right now what Bruss is going to be. But they do know their depth and that tells me they weren't happy with depth OL development as it pertained to RG.

So basically it should be Bruss and if it's not then one of two things are probably occurring... Either Bruss is a disappointment or one of the depth options made far bigger offseason strides than the staff expected. This all insinuates that Bruss is a very good bet to start.

Re: Anchrum I wonder if they consider him a RT. This new OL coach isn't a guy obsessed with crosstraining, so it's possible they still like some of those depth types but just don't see any of them as viable on the interior.

Yes Sir my one brain cell is agreeing with your post above.

I believe that the Ram Org would just prefer that their top draft selection in 2022 rookie Logan Bruss fulfills their objective very early in TC, but I would expect Tremayne Anchrum to be much further along in learning how to play RG than many here expect & provide very good options for Carberry.

I tend to lean that Anchrum is the starting RG as the regular season begins. With top reserves #6 & #7 being OC Coleman Shelton & LT Alaric Jackson (glued to Joe Noteboom) with Swing OL'er Bruss @ #8.

With his "lurking: injury history of Brian Allen, I do not see any reason to drive or push CS away from the center post. Best to keep him concentrating @ OC. Rookie Bruss has more experience @ RT than RG even though his size screams NFL RG. That RT experience will come in handy behind starting RT Rob Havenstein.

Drafted RT #A.J. Arcuri is sure to have an opportunity to stick along with Jack Snyder.

Pre TC .....I do see a direct path & need for an OL'er like UDFA Jack Snyder who will move from LT/RT down inside. Has excellent versatility to be a great grooming prospect as a three-post interior swing lineman to be the next Coleman Shelton. I see these two as #9 & #10.

Carberry has five other OL'ers available in Swing OT Evans, OT/OG Brewer, RT Ealy & RT Pircher & OC/OG Kolone.

Yep. I'm so frustrated with that dude. I would have moved him. I don't trust him at all he's just collecting game checks IMO.

A round-up of injury updates on the Rams roster as training camp nears

Ouch. Henderson was key to our Super Bowl win, so I certainly appreciate his contributions when healthy. But the Rams need to move on from him soon IMO. I do not consider it worthwhile to be using valuable cap space and a roster spot on a player that is never healthy, and that even when he does suit up, is good but nothing special, and never plays on special teams. He's always injured, and when he is not injured, is playing through something. Somehow he manages to keep this up even when only doing non-contact work.

Soft tissue injuries can often become chronic, and unfortunately, it seems Henderson has a few of the chronic variety. Imagine him when he is older. :injury:

Even on a snap count I would not trust Hendo to stay healthy. You essentially can only count on him to be a part-time piece as part of a RB by committee room. No bueno.

I don't root against any Rams player but when they move on from Hendy as a top two option I will feel a ton better about the backfield. Hendy is a depth chart mirage. He needs to be RB3 and pass game specialist.

Is confidence considered a “soft tissue”?

Darrell Henderson: Should Rams Trade RB?
BY CONNOR ZIMMERLEE SPORTS ILLUSTRATED LA RAMS NEWS, ANALYSIS AND MORE UPDATED JULY 06, 2022 4:15 PM
Darrell Henderson: Should Rams Trade RB? BY CONNOR ZIMMERLEE SPORTS ILLUSTRATED JULY 06, 2022 4:15 PM

Exploring why it might make sense for the Rams to trade Henderson this season. In the NFL, the usual business model is to build your team through the draft. The Los Angeles Rams have shirked that ideology in recent years, opting to build their roster through savvy trades and smart free agent signings. Last season the Rams traded for running back Sony Michel from the New England Patriots, continuing their trend of savvy trades. Despite the trade for Michel though, Darrell Henderson Jr. would serve as the lead back for the Rams, racking up 688 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Now, however, Bleacher Report believes that the Rams should explore trading Henderson moving forward. On the surface, this is not a move that makes sense, as Henderson showed he is capable of stepping up as the lead back when called upon. With Cam Akers coming off a serious Achilles injury, it would make sense to keep Henderson in the unfortunate scenario that Akers goes down at some point in the season.

Henderson himself would also miss time last season due to a leg injury, missing five games with an MCL sprain. On top of that, the Rams have two capable running backs on the depth chart behind Henderson in Jake Funk and rookie Kyren Williams. Williams is currently healing a broken foot but is expected back by training camp, and should make an immediate impact in the Rams' backfield.

Trading Henderson might make sense in the long run, with Cam Akers ready to serve as the lead running back, as well as Williams and Funk on the roster. However, until the Rams are blown away with an offer they can't refuse, it makes more sense to keep him for now. There is no such thing as having too much talent at one position, especially running back.

if the bleacher report believes the rams should trade henderson then the rams should hold on to him tightly.

he will be a great change of pace to akers. let akers wear them down and then unleash henderson on them. he can slash through them if the oline gives him some room.

kind of like that game against the cards back in 2020. the rams couldn't execute the plan last season after akers went down.

@BonifayRam That article just went all fubar'd on my screen :D I don't know the source but no I'm not in favor of trading him in season. There are too many question marks with health for the rest of the RB room. I'm thinking they let him walk after the season for a comp pick.

What in the sam hell happened with that article???? I don't speak whatever that was. But, no, I wouldn't trade him even if the rookie Williams shows out in camp. Three headed monster hard to deal with considering the WRs we have and the TE room coming of age.

I'm for trading him if we have a suitable replacement (trade wise) and can get something better than a comp pick we would get if he walked. Not sure if this is possible but would be the only way I'd entertain it.
