Morning Ram-blings: Richardson to Jets
By Nick Wagoner

http://espn.go.com/blog/st-louis-rams/post/_/id/8581/morning-ram-blings-richardson-to-jets

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- Although the writing was clearly on the wall, some were surprised when the St. Louis Rams released running back Daryl Richardson last week.

After all, Richardson was the team's starting running back to open 2013 and had dealt with injuries most of the season. Meanwhile, Isaiah Pead had been relegated to a special teams role and remained on the roster.

But Richardson wasn't available for long and never even cleared waivers. The New York Jets claimed Richardson on Friday and added him to an already crowded stable of backs.

It was unlikely Richardson would make the roster in St. Louis after the team spent a third-round pick on Auburn back Tre Mason. Mason joins Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham as the team's primary backs with Pead also still around. But he didn't exactly find an easy landing spot in terms of making the Jets' roster, either.

New York added Chris Johnson in free agency and also has Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Mike Goodson and Alex Green under contract.
