Rams mixed on BCS title game result

ST. LOUIS -- In a very unofficial way, the college football team of choice for the St. Louis Rams played for the BCS championship last night. Throughout the front offices of Rams Park, there are many close ties to Auburn, especially with the top decision makers on the football side.
Rams coach Jeff Fisher's son Trent plays special teams for the Tigers and general manager Les Snead spent time playing tight end for Auburn. Both were plenty invested in Monday night's dramatic 34-31 Florida State victory and not just to watch the many NFL prospects on the field.
During the game, Snead's wife, Kara Henderson Snead, tweeted out some funny tidbits of her husband as he watched the drama unfold. Late in the game, he apparently even considered alternative viewing options.

Beyond Snead and Fisher, the Rams have other Auburn representatives. Linebacker Daren Bates, practice squad receiver Emory Blake and scouting/football operations assistant Barrett Trotter played for the Tigers.
Of course, not everybody was disappointed in the Seminoles' win. While the Rams don't have any former 'Noles on the roster, they have plenty of former ACC players hoping to see the SEC streak come to an end.
Defensive end Robert Quinn made it clear where he stood before the game.

Likewise, offensive lineman Barrett Jones who won three national championships at Alabama refused to comment on whether he could support his fierce rival, opting instead for the more diplomatic approach.

One thing that I'm sure all Rams can get on board with is the plethora of players on the field Monday night that could help the team in this year's NFL draft. Auburn left tackle Greg Robinson is a player of logical interest given his talent and the Rams' needs on the offensive line should he choose to come out. Florida State is stocked with talent that will also get their due diligence from the Rams as the draft nears.
