Injury Report 12/10: Sullivan and Saffold OK, Hatfield Headed to IR

Myles Simmons
RAMS INSIDER

Head coach Sean McVay had good news and bad news on the injury front following Sunday’s loss to the Bears.

Center John Sullivan and left guard Rodger Saffold should both be alright to play in Los Angeles’ Week 15 matchup against Philadelphia. Sullivan was checked for a concussion in the first half, but cleared the protocol. And Saffold exited with an ankle injury in the second half, but was fine to re-enter the game after missing just five plays.

“They should be good,” McVay said.

Defensive back Dominique Hatfield was not as fortunate. Hatfield has been a significant special teams contributor for L.A. this season, playing 52.5 percent of snaps — No. 5 on the team. But he suffered an ankle injury on Sunday and will need surgery to repair it, effectively ending his season.

“Unfortunately, he’s going to have to get a similar surgery to what Pharoh [Cooper] had — so that’s going to mean IR for him,” McVay said. “Fortunately there was nothing with the fibula or anything like that. But some of the ligaments, [you’ve] got to go in there and get that tight-rope procedure where you get those things tightened up.

“And it’s unfortunate for him, he’s done some great things for us — really, a great story when you just think about some of the things that he overcame to become a part of the active roster last year,” McVay continued. “And he’s continued to be a big contributor for us, specific to special teams. But that’s what happened with him.”

Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Utah in 2017, Hatfield has played 21 games for the Rams in his career.

The Rams’ players have the day off tomorrow before getting back to work to prepare for the Eagles on Wednesday.

Question: Is it me or don't we usually have at least 3 O Line depth? or is it 2?

Also any practice squad we have that you think can step up for us?

Releasing J Brown is still a real head scratcher.
I agree totally, Honestly I still don't get that move either TBH. I'm just sure as hell glad Sully is okay with non-concussion especially since he's had problems in the past and Saffold is good to go. I will say Kelly and Noteboom weren't a huge sore thumb but that might of been because the line as a whole sucked! lol idk

Yeah I don't think anyone saw that coming. J Brown might have been a cancer in the locker room, who knows. But he was a very very good backup and has been a bright spot with the Giants since arriving. With our aging Oline injury goes up dramatically especially with the playoffs pending. It would have been nice to have a guy waiting in the wings with playoff and game experience. The guys we have now are rookies or players with no experience let alone playoff experience.

Yeah a starting Oline of:
LT- Noteboom
LG- Brown
C- Allen
RG- Blythe
RT- Havenstein

Looks pretty good on paper.

I agree 100%! I love both Allen and Noteboom and love what they bring but with the lack of experience they do make me nervous especially if they are needed! lol
One thing that does help is the older guys ahead of them that are able to help teach, mold, and groom them which is gives me very high hopes for both of them!

Trevon Young promoted to 53. Can we please pull Barron off the field this game a couple times and let Kiser take a crack?

Sorry to hear about Hatfield. I didn't like seeing him at CB but he really seems like a good guy and hard worker.

Good that our O-line will still be intact. We are going to need good play out of them against that Iggles front.

My thing was the announcers saying the OLine was thin when it comes to subs. I'm not so sure about that because the starters have been so durable.

Shame about Hatfield. I've been hard on him, but he's turned into a solid special teams player, and I hope he recovers fully.

Yes and No. He was gone after this year.

We wanted to add Fowler.

We did good by Jamon and he is finding success in New York and will get a pretty good contract from someone this off season.

It sucks we lost the depth. I think it shows the utmost confidence in Noteboom and also our training staff.

It is very weird that we don't have another OL on the roster.

The injury to Hatfield is a punch in the groin as it shouldn't have happened. Just take a knee or let it roll out of the back of the end zone for crying out loud and lets take it at the 25 yard line!

Yes very odd.....:alien:. I thought they would bring up an OL'er from the PS Aaron Neary {OC/RG/LG} but I was wrong.

Guess that the versatilities of both our reserve OL'ers provides comfort to Kromer/McVay. However Kromer did have 2 of his OL'ers go down against the Bears & were down to our Long Snapper Jake McQuaide as a emergency center. Joe Noteboom 6-5 320-325 lbs. has been seen playing four OL positions {LT/LG/RT/RG}. Brian Allen 6-2 305 has seen action @ three OL positions {OC/RG/LG}. So they have the starters back up well enough.

Young back to the active roster. Makes me think Obo isn't ready to play.
just because he's on the active roster, it doesn't mean he'll be active on game day. So no it doesn't tell us anything about Obo, it just means he was the best player on the PS.

Not too upset because they activated our rookie draft selection Weak side Interior LB'er Travin Howard:yess:. Let's hope Wade has an action plan for him in the very near future @ the Mark Barron post.:sneaky:
Wasn't it Young that got activated?
