Defense vs RBs

Detriot is #1 in rushing yards allowed but the Rams gave up less rushing TDs. Rams allowed more check downs to RBs but the Lions allowed more yards. Running the ball will be tough.

Defense vs QBs

Both teams are within the bottom 50% of the league in passing yards allowed. Completions are similar but it looks like the Lions give up more chunk plays if you look at the yardage disparity. Detroit is 4th in total yards allowed - Stafford should eat. Both teams aren't the best overall at sacking the QB. Detroit does have 6 more INTs than our secondary.

Defense vs WRs

This is where we should eat. Detroit gives up the 3rd most yards and TDs against WRs. This secondary is made to be carved up by McVay and Stafford. Kupp, Puka, Robinson will have opportunities to make big plays.

Defense vs TEs

I expected our teams to be amongst the bottom in the league vs TEs but the Lions are right there with us. We'll have to see how much La Porta's injury will affect their offense.

Defense vs Red Zone

This stat may be where we have the biggest advantage on defense. The Lions are the 4th worst team in giving up red zone TDs. I saw someone (Merlin?) point this out in the pregame thread.

When you compare stats among all playoff teams over the last 8 games (our young team is developing at at faster rate than others) the Rams are near the top of many categories.

Lions are so explosive that they can take teams out of a balanced gameplan. They play the run well but we are capable of moving it on the ground vs them.

Could be fun to do offense vs defense

I think there will be some frustrating series where our run defense gets them into 3rd and long but our pass rush can't do enough to disrupt Goff and he converts those. How many times that happens will help determine the game.

Our D just needs to slap them in the mouth early. And I'd love to see our O start the game in hurry up.

I don’t think we’ll need it; I think we can go in at a trot pace, The Lions know how explosive our offense can be. They give up the underneath routes way too easy with the cover 2 and 3. As long as we run a hot route and pressure the deep middle of the field it’s a guaranteed 6-12 yards all day.

Besides, we don’t want to tire the defense. Our defense is not currently built to sustain against long drives and we’ll be more than likely to give up the PA chunk plays.

Excellent.

Let’s hope that McVay reads this; he can pass the info onto his staff and spend Sunday with Veronika and the baby.
