Rmfnlt with some interesting trivia:
The "Deacon" in "Deacon Blues" was actually Deacon Jones.
I did not know that. Thanks for that. (y) :) I really love trivia like that. I think it's an adjunct to my OCD problems.

We enter but we can never leave?

Exactly.

I prefer the Steely Dans myself.
:ROFLMAO:

Little known fact (while I'm on Steely Dan)... did you know...

Favorite line, "Drink Scotch whiskey all night long and die behind the
wheel. They got a name for the winners in the world , I want a name when I lose. They call Alabama the Crimson Tide, call me Deacon Blues."

Other useless Steely Dan trivia: When in college Becker and Fagen had a jazz trio, with a drummer who went on to fame elsewhere. The drummer left because he felt they weren't serious enough about jazz. Went on to star in SNL and the vacation movies - Chevy Chase.

Wow! Good one!!

BTW... the guitarist on Deacon Blues, Larry Carlton? Great guitarist! I first noticed him when I used to listen to The Jazz Crusaders (later just The Crusaders)... one of jazz's historic bands... but he did a lot of studio work as well (like a few albums/songs with Steely Dan).

Download his first solo ablum... Room 335... the two songs with singing are admittedly bad... but the others? Fastastic IMO. If you like the guitar riffs on Steely Dan songs, you love this album!

Give it a try. The Cursaders ain't so bad either. ;)
