The changes in the Rams offense are interesting and I'm sure it's going to be a minute before McVay and Stafford really get in sync... but seeing the Rams do play-action out of the shotgun (hello Jourdan Rodrigue who's been foreshadowing this) and more shotgun overall was fun.
I know it's suuuuuper early... but I expected Higbee to have a big year because Stafford loves him some TEs... and that's going to happen.
Seems to me Van is the number 4 target on offense behind Woods, Kupp & Higbee. He and Stafford have been in sync in practices, based on reports and the second year guy is just an effing professional WR. I hope I don't hear people talk about Mims anymore.
How cool is it to have a kicker have a clean game and a 50+ FG?

I haven't seen it mentioned... but it looked to me like Rapp had a pretty solid game. Didn't really see Burgess at all.

1. Stafford showed the NFL just how good he can be if given the weapons.
2. Allen and the entire OL played lights out against a pretty damn good defensive front. These guys looked like they can play with anyone.
3. Jefferson showed he's the deep threat he could be. He's sneaky fast and with good hands.
4. What we saw was the early version of McVay's offense. It was clear he was holding back simply allowing his offense to work the kinks out. But what was clear is that the days of the simplistic outside zone run attack are gone. Inside gap blocking, would be better with a lead block to truly play power run.
5. I don't like Morris' version of drop, sit and react version of zone. The QB can throw to anyone inside of 5 yds uncontested. But he did tighten it up on 4th and short.
6. Rochell played well for his first game snaps. This kid is going to be special. His playing with Ramsey is going to really elevate his play quickly. If they lose D. Williams like they might, I'm more than happy with Rochell. He's going to be lights out in his 3rd year.
7. Stafford must think he's in heaven with so many weapons. He's used them all, but it's clear Kupp is going to be his #1 man.
8. As the season goes on this team is going to be an absolute monster on both sides.
9. Morris said, he didn't care about stats, and that is clear by the way he plays his defense. I may not personally like it but he showed tonight his defense can be good. He was more than happy to let the Bears dink, dunk and grind with their offense killing clock....time they couldn't afford because they were in a shootout with an offense that only allowed Hekker one punt. It worked because when he had to make the 4th down stops he tightened down the screws and it worked.
10. Give credit to where credit is due. I knew the Bears were good enough to beat you if you screwed up and they showed it. If anything it should drive any complacency the Rams might feel when they look at the game film.
11. The next 4 weeks will show just how good or not this team is. If they have a weakness it's going to show in these next 4 games. If they sweep them, this team will show they can absolutely beat anyone. I feel that the real competition this year will be within the NFCW. Sweep the division they make the playoffs and they will be SB bound.

Nice way to open the season. We got to see a glimpse of the offense. I didn't like the soft cushion on defense, but if you recall they played a softer defense in the first few games last year. Staley didn't really tighten up that ten yard cushion until around game 4 or 5. Hopefully we are seeing the same thing play out. They could be cautious with a rusty defense and not willing to get beat by a big play.

One petty thing about today... I listen to a few Rams podcasts... and one of them features one guy who, for some reason, doesn't like McVay and seems to be rooting for the Rams to fail to show he's smarter than our coach. Holding on tight to his "feels" about the Goff trade and searching in each and every interview for something to spin in a negative about McVay and this trade.

Guess what?

Those fuck tard Goff hardcore fans won’t ever get past it. It’s like the the whole STL move fans that never transitioned, the one constant in life is change and if you weren’t feeling the STL or Goff move a year before it happened I don’t know what to tell you.

It goes a little deeper than that for this weirdo.

He seems to resent the amount of attention McVay gets and receives around the NFL.
I mean.. what the f....?

No telling, maybe a personality disorder? I don’t know how you can stand listening to a dumb shit like that.
Me saying this after being a STL ESPN 101 homer for so many years and when they turned sour I couldn’t support them anymore, it hurt

Honestly, I think this was the last time I'm listening... I think you have the right idea.
Really love "the 11 personnel" ... the stuff the Rams produce is decent as well.

How in the hell did you connect Goff fans to St. Louis??
I think the only thing they have in common is: your problem with them.

Also, thanks so much for dragging the move topic out of the paleolithic era and bringing it back right now, especially in this Celebration Thread. Really nice touch.
I espescially liked it when you hit 'em the old _____ + "tard" combo. Really, great post, start to finish. Maybe next time you can bring up politics?

:laugh4:
A Neolithic STL creatine who gets offended at the mere mention of anything STL.:eyeroll: I didn’t say anything bad about anybody in STL so shutter down. You types find anything to try make something out of nothing.

IF YOU ARE ON THIS SITE AND SUPPORT THIS team am I referring to you? No. So tired of the outrage Culture in the US that’s developed in US the last 10 years. Literally the parasite of society.

Watched the game on replay, and wanted to point out some things that I noticed about Stafford.
1. There was a side arm throw to Higbee that would have made Mahomes blush…it was nearly underhanded with zip…caught fir short gain, better than a sack.
2. Wow on the arm strength…just wow
3. There was a third and nine in our first possession of the 3rd quarter…I was so used to coming out cold in the 3rd, that I expected a 3 and out, because the Bears came out snarling after halftime….Stafford threw a bullet to a well covered Higbee for a first down…he can throw people open.
4. It’s evident Stafford loves Coop…who doesn’t?
5. That tight throw to Woods was Stafford 3rd read….what a throw, what a catch!

How can you not love Cooper? Dude gets open consistently, catches the ball consistently, and breaks tackles after catch consistently. Those are three traits that tend to translate into production. He just has to stay healthy.

Lot of fun, can't wait to do a full rewatch later on.

Endzones looked great, hope they keep that design

It was, as it was actually 156.1.

Stafford was impressive for his first game with the Rams. Very efficient and took advantage of the Chicago secondary when given chances.

The oline was more than solid, especially in pass protection. Run blocking was good at times, especially late, but didn't always move a very physical Bears front.

I think we'll see how good the running game is when Michel is ready for more snaps. Seems to me McVay didn't want wear down Henderson in this game when Michel wasn't quite ready.

The receiving corps looks to be scary good, especially when coupled with an effective intent by McVay/Stafford to distribute the ball all over. I think every receiver on the field had at least one catch for serious yards. Unlike last year there are no weak links, only targets.

Look forward to seeing the offense and Stafford come together even more going forward. Also look forward to seeing how the Rams handle tough competition from more complete teams than the Bears, especially in the NFC west.

All in all an excellent opening win. Great job by our new QB and all around.

How about Young and Hollins great games each. Also want to recognize Edwards and Havenstein. I didn't hear Mack all night.
Makes one wonder why Mack (or anyone else deserves to be paid more than AD99!)
