DAK PRESCOTT SEEMS FED UP WITH COWBOYS OVER CONTRACT TALKS

Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott has said all of the right things as extension negotiations continue to draw on between the two sides.

It appears Prescott is now done playing nice. The impending free agent laid into the Cowboys over said contract negotiations on Thursday, seemingly calling the team out in the process.
“You would hope and you would think something is going to get done, right,” Prescott said Thursday, via David Moore of Dallas News. “I mean, you would have thought something would have gotten done before the season. In my brain, it only says that it gets done. Without the tag.”
This is the issue. Dallas holds the right to place the dreaded franchise tag on Prescott. That value is expected to come in at about $27 million, much less guaranteed cash than what the quarterback would earn on a long-term deal.
”I don’t think any of that is necessary,” Prescott continued. “But that’s business. That’s all calculated. That’s all on them.”
It’s obvious Prescott is placing the ball in Dallas’ court heading into the offseason. And while the Cowboys’ brass remains confident, these negotiations started long before Week 1 of the 2019 season.

When asked if he planned on working out at The Star in Dallas this offseason without a long-term deal, Prescott did not mince words in saying he’d be absent. “Report that,” Prescott uttered. “Be sure to report that.”

Things seem to be growing contentious on this front. Sure cooler sides could prevail with a deal ahead of free agency in March. At this point, that does not look to be in the cards.

it would be funny if they franchise him. the gloves will come off from his team. there's no way they can sign him long term after that.

the tag for this year will be approx $27m. so next year what, $30m? so if they want to franchise him again the year after that it will be $36m.

he would be crazy to sign long term with them if they franchise him. he's worth nowhere near $66m for two seasons. then he can cash in the year after like kirk cousins, the most average of qbs becoming one of the highest paid qbs in the league, fully guaranteed.

my mistake. i thought he still has a year left with the team. so it will be $62m for two seasons.

So many people rag on the Rams brass for the contract they gave Goff, but it's going to look like a bargain after the Cowboys sign Prescott, and even more so after Mahomes gets his deal.

Mind blowing how contracts have exploded. Makes me wonder where contracts will be in ten years.

I expect the CBA to negotiate implementing a salary cap within the salary cap, especially for QBs if they want to prevent that bubble.

Man... from that headline, I was hoping to read some real shit slinging. What a let down.

This is normal banter in this kind of negotiation. He's better off just keeping silent though.

I heard Donald giving a live interview for Golic and Wingo this week down in Miami. They asked him about his experience during his negotiation process. AD gave some excellent advice... he said you HAVE TO REMEMBER NOT TO TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY during contract negotiations. It's hard to do... but the less emotions that are involved in all business decisions is always the best.

I dont know.
In a year where guys like Brady and Rivers are FA's, they may tell him to walk if hes asking upwards of 40 mill.
I wouldnt give Dak 40m

This is why QB contracts should not count against the cap. Let the owners have to have one free market area to outspend each other. They have a million specific rules for QBs anyway...

I wish we were hearing rumors on that, though.

I'm not sure I've seen any make the rounds, unless I am missing it.

What are some numbers the two sides are throwing out there? Prescott looked horrible against the Eagles at the end of the year. I don't see him as worth more than Goff got. He just happens to be the next QB up. Considering he was a later round pick the Cowboys should have ponied up a new deal last year. He didn't get the rookie deals Goff and Wentz got. Oh well, Rams got their own problems, screw the Cowboys.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Jared's contract but the silver lining was these other contracts were going to come after him, namely Mahomes and Prescott's. Here are the current contracts of starting QB"S:
Screenshot (7).png

So with the market set with Russel Wilson, and it appears the Cowboys are offering 33-34 million still with Prescott's camp wanting 40 million/year I'm sure they'll meet in the middle at 36.5 or 37 mill., in which we are already benefiting signing Jared before these QB contracts. At least 3-3.5 million that can be used elsewhere to build our team.

I'm really curious in 2021 when all these QB's are out of contract:
Andy Dalton
Cam Newton
Tom Brady (maybe)
Drew Brees (maybe)
Phillip Rivers (maybe)
Jacoby Brisett
Kirk Cousins

Some decent and older Qb's on that list. About a 3rd of the league is going to be shooken up in the next 2 years QB wise.

Not including Ryan Tannehill and Jameis Winston.

p.s. I'd love to see Kansas City jump ahead and give Mahomes a huge deal to help up the price for Dak and maybe even cause a holdout! lol They are on a 40 day countdown as of today.
