Predicting the Rams 53-man opening day roster

Would be surprised if Hemingway makes the 53. He was very raw last year.
I hope Troy Hill is out.
Either of Eldrekamp and McMeans will make it.
Either of Ebukam and Price will not make it.
Tanzel Smart will not make it (Practice Squad).

Way too early to make any predictions. McVay has no ties or allegence to any of the last few year draft picks. Guys like Pharoh Cooper, Jamon Brown, Who can't stay healthy) , (Mike Thomas (who can't hang onto the ball), are all on the bubble and could be cut if they don't step up. Who they keep at WR will come down to three things. Precise route running, understanding the playbook and catching the ball.
Rhaney, who couldn't beat out Barnes at C still makes the team? McMeans will win out here.

Also count on a couple of UDFA to shine in TC and unseat one or two who were thought to make the 53. it happens every year.

Give the edge to the players who "get it" Football smart and fast learners.

I'm not a big Forest guy , I think Samson beats him out ?? Been told they play different positions but Inthink he willl play both. Hager is a Fisher guy so ??

I'll disagree all draft picks make the roster . That is a good sign of how good McSnead did in the draft if that is a true statement.

With both our slated starting Safeties being UFA's when this season ends & major high end contracts being worked out for our best defensive players why would this very low end cost & talented safety not have a roster spot? How in the world do you see the Rams being able to sign all these DB's in the off season?

John Johnson is said to be a Nickle/Free Safety talent.....with our past 3 season Nickle Joyner & pending starting Nickle NRC being UFA's John would be in an excellent position to be our Nickle or starting FS next season.

........Only 5 DL feels thin though. I think we keep 6, but also think Westbrooks plays on the line. So semantics I suppose...........

Yes Westbrooks is a DL for-sure & possible starter @ LDE. The thing that sticks out here with an oversized or undersized DL cadre is both Barwin & Qunn have been primarily DL'ers most of their NFL careers, even if they are placed in the LB'er cadre. I would not be surprised to see both of these outstanding pass rusher being used often in the Nickle & dime defenses in any of the 3 DL positions.

Unlike in the past the line will be blurred involving the DL units & OSLB'er units in this new defense.I am sure that Wade will desire a boatload more pass rushers than the standard runstuffer types. Bottom line if Quinn is close to being healthy he will NOT be cemented to that Weak side outer LB'ing post & will be lined up everywhere in that front five to cause nightmares for all the OL posts.

I think Quinn has as much talent as Miller from Denver.
-- I think he can be coached up. He has LBer speed. Serious fast first step.
Can catch a RB from behind . Look back at LT in the day from the Giants. Quinn has the speed, maybe not the power. 18 sacks in a season ?? He has the ablitilty .

I don't even see him in photos. Why did The Rams draft John Johnson so early ?

I'm not a big Johnson fan from watching Senior Bowl & video clips as well. I don't see him as a FS . He does not break on the ball well.
I'm sure he will get coached up & the coaching staff have a lot better idea of his talents. I'm all up for listening to the podcast. You bring up good points & intestreating views. Very creative , I still keep saying Randolph will not make The Rams 53 roster.

He's focused on catching the ball, everyone looks that way.

The large brace is a little disconcerting. I think he has a good chance to land a backup role. I don't think Rhaney has much of a chance, but I honestly have no clue what the O-Line depth will look like.

Looks a little crowded for sure....hmmmm....Lets see who son of bum likes after the season....I don't see EJ Gaines as a starter...I'd like to see Joyner at safety first too....I bet Mo gets a deal....and Tru is the wildcard....IMO, Johnson needs to prove he can contribute on ST.

While a smooth running athlete....he's slow...and he's not physical. I'm still wondering who wanted to draft this player? He's nothing like a son of bum safety.

Anyway I agree with you on EJ Gaines starting post @ corner is history, if EJ does not prove that he can be a reserve Nickle or deep safety he will be released. I have serious desires that Joyner be our full time deep safety period! I would target Mo first above all DB's for a new contract. If Mark Barron is moved back to Strong Safety in 2018, Mo has proven the ability to play deep safety.

Wade has a big need to groom several of those UDFA's corners this Training Camp & Pre- season to counter the pending 2018 DB free agents. 3rd rd pick John Johnson can play a key in helping him.
