Ouch, yeah had that happen to me too but got me on top of my foot and missed toes so was just really painful and bruised. Avoided any real damage.

Deadlifted Monday. On the way up, heard my lower back pop. As my brother in law put it, when I walk it looks like I biked for 100 miles with no seat.

.

I'm amazed it's not mandatory to wear steel capped shoes at the gym. I bet more toes get hurt at the gym then at a construction site.

Been doing weights since the late 70s. Never once dropped any on my foot. I'm very careful and almost never distracted. Had my back pop though a number of random times a few years back when doing squats. Sub leg presses and lunges instead these days.

Once I dropped a bottle of vodka on a slate walkway and it broke.

That made me sadder than reading about this.

You cannot make it up.

With one game remaining in the season, rookie receiver and punt returner Jawill Davis was placed on injured reserve — not a common occurrence with only one game remaining. The way Davis got hurt was anything but common.

A source indicated Davis hurt his knee while horseplaying in the locker room Saturday. According to NFL Network, Davis was dancing in the locker room and suffered a partially dislocated patella. Clearly, Davis would not be ready to play in Sunday’s game against the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium and he was put on IR.

Had this happen to me in my early twenties. Curling with one hand, with a beer in the other. Forgot to tighten the bolt that holds on the weight. Goodbye right toe.
First time I read this I had two questions:

1 - How can you get a good sweep with a beer in your hand?
2 - How drunk would you have to be to lose a toe to one of those slow-moving weights?

Then I realized you weren't talking about this kind of curling.

I never dropped a weight on my foot (thank God), but I have smashed my pinky on multiple occasions when pushing plates together on the bench.

You can have a different opinion about that, Peter, but it still sucks.

Not much weight on the curl. Wasn't drunk. just stupid. There's more to the story. My ex-wife took me to the hospital where they put a metal thingy around my big toe and taped it up. We had a big sheepdog and when we got home he jumped up and landed directly on the injured toe. Back to the hospital we went for more stitches. Double ouch!

I dare not have a different opinion than you. :sneaky:
