So first off I don't think the Rams are in the market for help, because they have made a conscious decision to go with youth and affordability at some positions as they continue to lock down the key guys. But then again you never know what a team is thinking, so who is out there that might be looked at as a way to improve the roster?

OL
Jermy Parnell (OT): guy who IMO is more a swing tackle but he's better than some of our bottom roster types. Getting up there in years at 33.
Ryan Schraeder (OT): plus tackle in 2017 but fell off a damn cliff last season, and he's 31. Potential short-term reclamation.
Vlad Ducasse (OG): better in pass pro than run, not a very good player, he is 31. Does have ability to play different spots.
Evan Smith (OG/C): 33 year old vet who struggled and played with hip problems last year.

It's fugly tbh. Of all these guys the only one I'd even be interesting in working out is Schraeder, and he struggled badly last season. Parnell is probably better than some guys on the bottom end of the roster but do you want to make room for a guy who is a high risk to sail into retirement? Wonder what he's looking for, and whether he'd play for a bottom feeder contract (probably not).

Seems like roster cutdowns will be the way the bottom of that roster is adjusted, if they make a move.

I'm good! Don't need a scrub cast off taking development snaps away from those rookies and young guys that Kromer and McVay picked. That's not the way to develop and grow a team.

Personally I think we'll grab someone that's a cap casualty or a release UDFA after the preseason.

It was magic in the way Andrew Whitworth came to us, imagine if that kind of lightning were to strike twice ...

well that was a little different. That was an offseason signing. Plus we signed him to a 4 year deal?
but anyways, if we get someone its going to be someone with potential or someone that got cut because the team can't afford them. I too hope we land someone that would send Blythe to the bench or to take over for Allen. I personally think Blythe is a better center than guard. But at this point I don't know if we'll ever find. out.

Echo what @Jacobarch said above and add that I seriously doubt there are any multiple pro bowl healthy OLinemen available let alone in danger of being cut. Couple that with the fact there are teams like Arizona and Houston that have terrible lines and can offer more play time and potentially more money we’re not likely to see anything worth a roster spot available.

I said it was magical the way it happened, not meaning to imply that it is likely.

Like Bortles, or especially Weddle, Matthews, and even Suh last season, ... why would an aging pro-bowler choose L.A. over Arizona, Houston or another destination that may even pay better, because they realize the Rams have a brilliant young coach in McVay, along with a very competitive team which might actually get you to a Super Bowl. That and some of the best weather anywhere.
Whitworth was essentially a CAP casualty, if someone of that caliber happens to come available again at a position of need, you don't hesitate. jmo.

If rhe Rams brain-trust is scrambling after palookas who were cut instead of guys worthy of a trade, this season isn't looking too rosy anymore. I trust Kromer's ability to develop young guys. I believe the Rams will be fine...

Who's to say the guys worthy of a trade wont be available after cut down day? I don't think anyone is trading a quality starter at this point of the year

Maybe...But by then, the trade option for guys we'd have to cut because of great depth (CB's for instance), will be gone. We can't leverage any of these good players after the cut down, unless I totally misunderstand how things work.

Um, didn’t the Rams get a roster cut from the Colts who turned out to be a starter at RG? Austin Blythe is an example that Snead/Kromer know what they want. We won’t likely identify who they want til we get him...

Daryl Williams, coming off an injury last season may be a target from the Panthers. Panthers spent a second round draft pick this year on an OT Greg Little out of Ole Miss. So, something to keep an eye on.

I still maintain that keeping 9 OL'ers on this master 53 player Ram roster would be a very smart decision. I need to remind myself #no 1 priority is the protection of Jared Goff all other objectives are secondary.

At the moment I prefer Edwards {LT/RT/LG}, Evans {RT/RG}, Brewer {RT/RG/LG/LT} & Vitas Hrynkiewicz OC. Go with this heavy 9 player OL cadre until week 4 when Aaron Neary {OC/LG/RG} returns. Kromer needs VH due to Demby's {OG/OC} failure to demonstrate in TC & preseason that he is ready for NFL action.

Once interior OL'er Neary returns VH should be released & after VH passes thru waivers...sign VH to the Practice Squad with Demby. I would suggest that once our most experienced OL'er Neary gets back up to speed after his month vacation....be ready to reevaluate the OL cadre number.

I might go Neary over Hrynkiewicz since we've seen more and he's actually looked good.

Me too;) However Neary will not be available for the first month of regular season. Since I would release Demby & try to sign him to our PS. Thus, a center is a need even with Blythe on the roster. Currently, Neary is our best overall reserve OL'er. I believe from what I have seen in two preseason games Neary has come far.

Keep Demby until Neary is back if needed or Hulk as I wanna keep typing since his name is a scrabble nightmare. It wouldn't be the first time we kept a guy as insurance until somebody was off suspension.

I'm reading better reports on Kolone than some of the others, so unless something changes in the next two weeks, and it very well may, right now i'm inclined to keep Kolone over Demby. I'd rather have Kolone take over RG and move Blythe to center, then place a call to Sullivan until Neary can come back from his 4 game 'absence'.

I think we may be saying the same thing.
If they are going to trade from an area of depth, they would do before cuts, trade for someone who would likely be a final 53er.

This is the most likely road forward.
However watched a bit of late second half action of the Vikings vs Seahawks and both backup Viking Gs looked better than Demby.
That said.....and this is the part that’s easy to forget to figure in....scheme fit. A guy could look good run blocking in one scheme and not be a fit in another.
