Odell Beckham scored a 17-yard touchdown on the first pass thrown to him in the Super Bowl when he was with the Rams 16 months ago. On the second pass thrown to him in Super Bowl LVI, he raced for a 35-yard gain. On the third pass thrown to him, his knee buckled awkwardly as he was reaching for the ball. He hasn’t played since.

Beckham still thinks about the disappointment from that game, when he thought he was well on his way to an MVP performance until he suffered the torn ACL that knocked him out of not just that game but the entire following season as well.

“It sucks. I watched plenty of Super Bowls and finally, it was my opportunity and I was so locked in. I could feel it that day when I woke up,” Beckham said, via the Baltimore Sun. “I knew that I was probably going to be the best person on the field that day. I just wanted to have that moment.”

Beckham, who is now with the Ravens and feeling good about his recovery, said it hurt not to be able to finish that game with the Rams.

“It’s hard when you get to the pinnacle of success in this sport and feel like it was something that was taken away from you,” Beckham said. “It wasn’t something that was easy to live with. It was very hard to go through that.”

The Ravens hope Beckham can play in another Super Bowl, and finish what he started.

Interesting viewpoint. A more "half full" type might recognize that he was playing with borrowed time that whole season due to an unresolved knee issue. He could have missed the Super Bowl entirely. Instead, he made a significant contribution in the snaps he was able to play before going down.

There's a bit of ego in his comments... not excessive, but not "we not me" material either.

Those are sincere comments. Of course, the headline makes it appear differently.

It’s likely a blowout if he stays in the game. Stafford was throwing darts all over the field at that point and the Bengals D was looking frazzled. Also the run game might have opened up for us a bit.

He's probably right. He was off to a great start and probably would have continued to be unstoppable. Or, Bengals would have adjusted and Kupp still would have shined with having it so much easier. not being the only threat.

I kind of like the way it ended, though...Kupp and Stafford (and Donald on D) doing their thing. Why not let the stars demonstrate why they are stars?

OBJ did have a helluva start.

I am of the opinion that a combo of OBJ and Kupp would have eaten the Bengals alive. Both were uncoverable and Stafford was throwing lasers.

100% agree. I’m being a bit of an ass since once you leave the Rams you are the enemy. At the point of his injury:
Kupp: 2 rec/3 attempts 32 yds TD
OBJ: 2 rec/3 attempts 51 yds TD

I'd be disappointed if OBJ didn't feel that way. I don't see it as an insult to Kupp or anything, just a guy that was ready to bring it in the biggest game of his career. I can appreciate that. However, it was a little delusional to believe he was gonna be the best player on the same field AD was playing on.

Idk…Kupp was obviously the best receiver that entire season, but there was something special coming from OBJ that game in particular. Don’t get me wrong, Kupp would have produced, but Kupp got MVP because he HAD to put the team on his back after OBJ went down. We will never really know what the outcome would have been if not for the injury, but it’s not a clear cut same result (for game MVP) IMO…hell, with two receivers putting up stats, Staff could have taken home the MVP

Agree with everyone that both would have more catches and maybe another TD each and Rams would've won by more points if OBJ hadn't been hurt. But I don't like what ifs, so us winning still felt great no matter who got MVP.

But as we know it just showed how damn clutch Stafford was with limited weapons. He was up for MVP too and Coop beat him out.

Again. Admittedly I was being an ass but if You leave the Rams, you are immediately placed behind ALL Rams in my head and heart. I feel that way regarding Von Miller even more because he left a team that gave his career a much needed boost because his dad and agent told him to go for the $$$.

Ironically the pass that got obj injured wasn't a laser. It was behind him and he injured his knee reaching back for it.

Agreed. When I read the original post, the first thought that came to mind was, "you wouldn't have even been the best offensive player on the field". AD was the best player on the field, Kupp was the best offensive player but had he not had to put the offense on his shoulders, Stafford would have been the best offensive player with those 2 weapons playing the whole game. And AD would have still been #1.

OBJ was great for the Rams and bought into the "we not me" but once he left the Rams he reverted back to the pre-Rams OBJ of me not we.

I have no issue with OBJ feeling that way... what's more important to me is that it was clear.. the Rams would've blown the damn doors off the Bengals if he didn't go down.
