After everything that happened during the 99 season, this game kinda got
pushed to the back row of my memory.
However at the time, there was no game bigger. The previous 17 games
between these two teams had resulted in a Ram loss.
Nov. 25, 1990 was the last time we had beaten these guys.

Todd Lyght drafted by the Rams in 1991 had played his entire
career without a single victory against the 49ers.
As a matter of fact there was not a single player on the
99 roster who had beaten the 49ers as a Ram.

We were 4-0 and I was still not sure if, what was happening up to this point
was real or just a blip that would end as quickly as it had started.
The 49er's were 3-1 and this game was for command of the West.

I remember driving 25 miles to the closest sports bar that
would air the game.Living in NC this game would not be
aired on the local channels.I remember thinking,If the Rams
are truly the real deal, this is going to be the game that proves it.

Issac Bruce in his 5th year showing you just how huge this
moment was.Watch what he does at the end of this clip.
A little out of character for the Reverend.LOL.

Moment of Clarity:
I remember sitting in the sports bar at this exact moment
in the game and thinking."Oh shit! This is for real."
This is not a dream or some fluke. The Rams are for
real . My freaking Rams are for real !!

I started following the team after THIS GAME. I was hooked on their offense, Faulk became my favorite player, they won the Superbowl and I've been proudly yelling, "F*** the niners" ever since.

Bruce........what a guy to have on your team!

Bruce is and always will be my favorite Ram.
The man was one of the best to play the game at his position.
Yet he did it with so much humility and class.Love me some Bruce.

Yes Sir Mr Dave.
Aside from the playoffs and Super Bowl I think this was
the most important game of the year.It had to have filled
our guys with confidence knowing they had just broke the
17 game losing streak.I this is the game is where the team and fans
really started to believe that they could accomplish anything.

For the record on my fantasy football team I had Isaac Bruce and Kurt Warner...What a great day and I won the title that year and promised I would not draft a Ram again in fantasy football.

Hands down my favorite Rams regular season game of all time. All that frustration of losing to the 49ers 17 straight suddenly exorcised by one serious ass-whipping, in a game where Bruce and Warner were both incredible. Not to mention, a turning point for the '99 season for both teams.

For the Rams, the confidence they had been gaining in the three previous weeks skyrocketed; this was the game that season when you knew they were for real.

For the 49ers, their season went into the tailspin - they were 3-1 coming into the game, they went 1-11 the remainder of the season. I don't think any game did more to erase the aura that they had carried about them for years than this one. Just as the game propelled the Rams confidence, it shattered that of the 49ers.

A most satisfying win.

That was fun to rewatch.

I was in STL at the time but couldn't get tickets for this game. So... my friends packed a TV and power converter and we watched the game from a parking lot just outside the dome.

The city was in full party mode after this win.

Great memories!

I remember thinking we were legit after this one.

I remember the sickening feeling in my gut when Bruce signed with the Whiners. It literally made me physically ill.

He and Warner are my favorite Rams of all time. They were killers who acted like men and not divas.

@DaveFan'51 @CGI_Ram @den-the-coach @thirteen28

I have been watching some of these 99 highlights this week.
kinda filling my off season cravings and wow what a freaking
terror Tony Horne was.Geez

If you're an opposing team you have to deal with one of the greatest
offenses ever, a bad ass defense.
Annnnd then you have to deal with this Horne guy??
Sometimes I forget just how important he was to that team
and how absolutely complete the Rams were at that time.

Tony Who!?! Just Kidding!!! Tony was our great KR man with the GSOT and Az handled the PR's for the most part, Tony did some too!

tony-horne 82.png
Tony totaled 143 KR's for 3577 Yds. and 4 TD's with a Long of 103 Yds. and an average of 25.0 He also had 2 TD's receiving, and that was just in the Regular Season!
_tonyhorne_2.jpg

In 4 Playoff games Tony had 14 KR's for 336 Yds. and 1 TD. with a long of 95 Yds. and a 24.0 average!

I have no clue why he didn't last more than 3 Seasons with the Rams! Memory fails me!

Thanks, Zero. Those were the days when I had to go to sports bars as well. I live in NC, too. Ram fan all of my life.
