The NFL needs to adopt the college replay system where anything can be replayed at any time upstairs.

What happened with the spot yesterday should never happen.

And, if you’ve used all times outs but have challenges left and want a review, make the punishment for getting it wrong an automatic first down if you’re on defense, and a 10 second runoff and loss of down if you’re on offense. Majority of the time the team that’s behind is the ones who would initiate it

maybe - in college they just review close plays

no penalty for anyone

but you have X amount of challenges left is outdated.

The NFL already has a system like college. They can look at and change any call at any time. New York is allowed to call down and waive off flags, tell the refs the ball hit the ground or not.. or that the ball was tipped on an interference call. I've seen all these things happen. The reason they didn't correct the Pickett sneak is because they chose not to. That's it. The BS that there's nothing to be done only existed for that game.at that time.

I thought it was crystal clear that Pickets never made the line to gain. Initially the ref's foot showed it was short then they spotted the ball very generously.

IMO, close calls where a change of possession takes place should be an automatic review like a turnover.

What I don't understand is why can't the field refs simply call time out and review critical game changing plays like that phantom first down? Are their egos more important than simply getting it right? Why is a challenge even warranted? It proves beyond all doubt that they don't do it because they are shaving points. That's the only reason for not putting the right call ahead of all other considerations. This rash of "bad" calls in every game every week coincides with the NFL getting involved in sports gaming. Talk about conflict of interest.

I think I see it more often now than in the past. All commercials for it, makes sense that there is something going on.
The officiating getting worse. The NFL is for entertainment purposes only. No fairness involved.

He was playing the FREAKING BALL!! Just like the announcer said.
Even the Jolly Green Giant couldn’t have caught that pass to boot.There is No NFL WR making that play,plus he was playing the ball.

I tell you it is making it hard to watch. I used to watch games for the enjoyment now it is frustrating mainly due to this poor way the games are officiated. Can we all band together and just stop watching or going to games for a month until changes are made. I see no other way of getting the NFL to address this matter.

In McVay's weekly show, he was CLEARLY pissed by this call even more than the ridiculous re-spotting of that 4th down play (which was properly spotted FAR short by the ref responsible).

To paraphrase, "We really shouldn't have been in that situation based on what happened on the DPI. I'm still waiting to hear from the league since I never got a clear answer about the penalty, nor how it could have resulted in offsetting even if it was a penalty."

This makes no sense on so many levels.
The refs dont control the use of replay, only touchdowns and turnovers. Their egos have nothing to do with it.
As for suggesting point shaving, its as sensical as suggesting installing a new spark plug to fix a flat tire.
Today's gambling landscape has so many variables, so many ways to wager, the final score is almost irrelevant in a large % of bets

The types of plays are limited but they can do simple things.. like correct the clock. Or correct the spot of the ball. They can call down at any time and say.. actually it was obviously short.. please spot it at the 45.. or whatever. This has happened in other games.

With an ongoing push from coaches for a sky judge or a booth umpire — the former term which originated during the meteoric fall of the Alliance of American Football — the unanimously opposed Competition Committee held its ground and initiated a review of options. Entering 2021, the committee proposed, and owners approved, a new rule that would allow the replay official to intervene between plays to make some obvious corrections.

There is a lot of overlap with the calls that are subject to the replay official’s intervention and a coach’s challenge. So how is this going to work?

First, the replay official would have to see something abundantly clear on video within a narrow scope:

• Whether or not the pass was completed or intercepted
• Whether or not a loose ball touches a boundary line or the goal line
• Correct a spot when the location of the ball relates to the boundaries, line of scrimmage, line to gain, or the goal line.
• Correct a spot to an earlier part of a run where a runner was down by contact but not ruled down.

The Fact that they just said.. oh its not in 2 minute and you don't have timeouts, so we can't look at it or correct it are wrong. New York is allowed to correct a bad spot at any time.
