I know it's probably too early for this - but that's what this forum is for! - who do you guys think the most likely trade down partners will be if we decide to go that route? What do you think we can get in a trade down? What have people historically gotten?

For this exercise, I'm ruling out trading down for a future pick as our team has too many holes (expecting FA loses) to make that seem a reasonable course of action.

It seems to me we could possibly pick up (conservatively) at least a 3rd and drop to the end of the 1st round here. A similar trade was made when the Broncos sent their 1st and 3rd in 2016 to the Seahawks for the 26th pick (Broncos were picking 31st in the first round that year and the third rounder was late). In that scenario, a QB dropped to a hungry team and with this crop of QBs this year, I could see a similar scenario play out too.

Whatcha think?

I think Denver is a real possibility trading from 40 to 23 and include their 3rd or Talib? Spitballing there

Cleveland is a possibility too. Their new GM is not a money ball guy so 3 first rounders is a great idea to him. Again a 2nd and 3rd rounder would do it. Maybe less if we send them Barron.

How about the Jets? They have 2 in the 2nd. Is there somebody they want there at 23 to help them give Cousins(talk is they’re all in on him) a weapon!

Going to be interesting, the start of free agency will answer some of these questions.

Here is a great interactive link with entire draft order. It has links to each teams draft picks. It is early but, Cleveland stands out to me with a lot of picks. The have the 1st pick in round 2, last pick in round 2 as well as the 1st pick in round 3. Boy they are loaded. Here are all their picks.

1,4,33, 35,64,65,97,119,129,150,161 and 193

I would like to see who the Rams have a chance at in round 1. They need an impact CB and if one is available they should keep it. Also NT could be the pick too.

This may be one of those scenarios where the perfect trade back would require a bit of luck. Say more than one CB we liked was there in the 1st and someone right below us wanted up. Could we just trade back a couple spots in the 1st while netting a day 3 pick or perhaps a day 2 pick if we end up giving back some 6th rounders.

God knows. I think there will be a few guys they want there at 23, and if they're gone a trade down is the preferred route to get another 3rd round pick.

Who those are probably includes a laundry list of need positions that should be strong at 23: CB, ILB, NT, maybe OLB, possibly OT who knows.

If they stay put the ideal selection IMO would be one of the four CBs Hughes/Ward/Jackson/Alexander. Adding a shutdown CB to Wade's defense is probably the single biggest impact selection they can make.

Wow.
They have 7 picks in the top 100.
I don't think I've ever seen that.

I understand about trading down, but I feel there should be several great options at 23. I am hoping Vea is still there. He solves run D and helps Donald and Brockers. But a bunch of good DBs, ILB, Rush LBs one top notch one will be there.

I would make the argument that this is the exact situation you look to trade down a handful of spots. If some combination of DB, ILB, rush LB are there at 23 with similar grades, I suspect this FO would entertain any trade offers with the next few picks below them.

Sure, I have to imagine there's a scenario where there's one guy that falls to us where it's a no-brainer to pick him. But I imagine an equal scenario where a number of guys are there that we grade evenly or there are no guys we grade appropriately for that spot and we try to get out of it.

A couple of option are:

Jets 2nd Rnd (#37) & 3rd Rnd (#72) for the Rams #23. It is an even trade considering the value chart.

Vikings 1st Rnd (#30), 3rd Rnd (#94) & 6th Rnd (#190) for the Rams #23

Jaguars 1st Rnd (#29) & 3rd Rnd (#93) for the Rmas #23. Rams would owe back approx 8 points of value

All three could be in the market for a 1st round QB depending how FA shakes out. Sadly, I don't think any of the other teams behind us in the 1st round will really be looking to trade up to get a QB.

That’s the whole point West Coast! They more than likely won’t be trading for a QB because they are pretty set on a QB but they would definitely trade up to pick somebody who fell from the teens and they think would be a difference maker in their scheme. It only takes one team to think this, and in recent years with the trades more common and less costly for the trader it could work out for us. I literally could see the Viqueens or Jets move up with us. I’d take another 3rd to drop 5-6 spots.

I’d love the Browns trade. Would be a dream scenario.
