That anticlimactic Al Michaels call still bugs me. I’ve never had a problem with him, but that call sounded like it was from somewhere in the first half. Dude just couldn’t hide his disappointment.

I didn't care at the time (DUH) but it is pretty rough and I say that as a big Al Michael's fan.

We weren't supposed to win. It was supposed to be Joe Burrow's coming out party and the Rams screwed it up for the networks and the NFL.
We're lucky that they gave us the trophy!

That was horrible. They should never be allowed to commentate on the superbowl ever again.

Not that I would have heard a word they said on that play.

I never heard his call during that game because I was celebrating… but watching the game on replay that was A HORRIBLE call by Michaels. It ticks me off too.

I never really thought about that perspective, but you're right. Where he just trails off at the end into a disappointed sentiment? I think it was his time to hang up the mic.

I think it was his age, like he forgot that play ended the game.

I agree, and don't think Michaels and Collinsworth have been a good tandem for years.

At the end of the Divisional Round game, Collinsworth was analyzing the first completion to Kupp (where he just got out-of-bounds) when the ball was snapped for the deep completion to Kupp that set-up the game-winning-FG. In both cases, Michaels (Super Bowl) and Collinsworth were slow to realize and address the situation at the most critical moment.

Sportscasters (play-by-play and analyst) can decline over time in my opinion. Sometimes their success makes them a little lazy, sometimes, we the viewers/listeners, have heard everything they have to say so there's nothing new/fresh and, sometimes, they just get a little old. Even if the mind is still sharp (it usually ain't), the mental and verbal reflexes are slower.

The call was terrible. The other thing that frustrates me is that I’ve never seen an overhead shot of the field/Rams sideline celebrating after that play. All’s I’ve ever saw is the close up on AD and field level individual shots of some of the defense on the field. There must be a more encompassing angle.

Spock could've had a better on-the field call than Al Michaels in that moment.

My understanding is that Michaels was always a LA Rams fan. I don't think there was any malice there on his part. Just maybe not as excited a call as Ram fans would have liked.

Dude! It's so unreal they we won the Superbowl. I legit cried when we did. This is a team Ive been rooting for since 1990 when I was six years old. For some reason, this title meant more to me as a Rams fan than the last title. There's a possibility we could be an even better team than we were last year. We have bobby Wagner! But apart of me still wants us to sign the honey badger or obj.

Too late on the Honey Badger. Signed with the Saints last week.
