I watched it last night and the sad part about it is the fact that Te'o was a good kid, a tad naïve, but let's remember when we were in our late teens to early 20's most of were back then. The way I look at it, if Te'o was typical football jock, he wouldn't have chased a non tangible asset if you will, he would have just been with the adoring ladies, that I'm sure would have lined up to be with him.

The fact he stayed true to his culture in order to ensure he would find a perfect fit, led to his demise IMHO. Add to the fact the media took it totally in another direction trying to prove Te'o was non heterosexual'. Dead Spin was trying to prove how the major media conglomerates whiffed on the story, but as always, instead of admitting they missed something the major media outlets deflected and took it in another direction.

I feel for Te'o although IMO, he should have admitted it was someone he was corresponding with via social media and not his so called "girl friend" again I think it also showcased that Notre Dame did him a disservice, not getting the story out first. Overall it destroyed him mentally and I get it, IMO, it's sad, but again, nothing like that had ever happened and people did not know how to respond to it. That is why Dear Evan Hansen was so well received.

Isn't it ironic that in this world for example we got a catfisher a predator in Watson and maybe harsh a dummy in Teo or the better word naive and:

1. the catfisher gets where she wants to go and maybe even makes a couple of extra bucks selling her story more than wt she would of had without the hoax and destroying a future and or life of an individual

2. Watson gets a wrist slap for getting what he wanted with these woman and to boot 234 million

3. Teo lost his career his mind abilities draft position and millions because of the hoax.

Yet number 1 wasn't destroyed by the media. Number 2 seems to have a media split but regardless still gets everything he wanted and wasn't exactly crucified because it's touchy as with number 1.

Number 3 the victim of a cruel hoax be it by an evil person or shit media etc. Gets crucified destroyed ridiculed and utterly shamed at the time for something naive yes but as egregious as the other 2 absolutely not. Yet on equal footing. Just wow!

I tried to watch it. It seemed interesting and then I remembered that he sucked as a pro and i didn't care. Haha no. But for real...it was well done. I just wasn't interested
I think he would’ve played much better had this horrible, disgusting, and downright selfish individual didn’t fuck with his head.

Notre Dame did not know about the cat-fishing, Teo had told them about the girlfriend being "alive"
At the end of the day, I'm not sure what the point was in the documentary. I feel no sympathy for "Lennay", and frankly the trans angle is irrelevant. He was targeting many people, like a predator.
T'eo was never the same, he lost a lot of weight, and passion. Shame really.
And while it is strange, its kind of ironic that people on here cant understand how it happened. I feel like I've made some pretty genuine friends over the years between here and RRF, most of whom I never met.

As a transwoman, I feel for Manti. I feel nothing but hatred for the transwoman who ruined his life; she gives people like me a bad reputation.

That was one of my points. I appreciate that honesty man and that p.o.v.
I also thought she lacked a ton of remorse and in some cuts had the audacity to kind of take credit for his play or how she may have been a good influence. There are sick people in every type of person. If people realized that people are people and accept them for who they are you could then concentrate on the true bad people in society that could be white black Hispanic gay trans thin heavy etc. instead we label and focus on the wrong stuf.

Wow that’s fucking crazy! Just watched this. That person that made this fake shit up is an utter scum bag regardless of their excuses for doing it.

It just kept happening after knowing it was wrong. I didn’t follow this closely but I hope some people rang that ass about how much of a piece of shit you are. Smh.

can i ask you a question. what are your thoughts on dave chappelle?

do you see the funny side of his jokes or do you get offended by them?

me personally, i think he's the funniest comedian i've ever heard. a lot of his material is thoughtful and educational until he gets to his over the top punchline. i like him.

just wondering what your thoughts are.

My thoughts on any kind of humor, not just Dave Chappelle? It has to be made purely in jest, never to purposely hurt. I think most comedians get that, including Chappelle.

You see thought that right there is the problem your reasonable and I assume gone through struggles yet you can stop look listen and laugh.

It's funny because if we just left school with the little kid teachings like stop look listen nursery rhymes how to be kind to others etc we should just stop school right after that lmao...what good is algebra if your an evil judgemental p.o.s. stuck in a box. Degree or no degree you will always be in your own prison.

See if people were allowed to just be people and live outside of judgement you would be able to find the bad apples. It's like sifting flour for the individual grains to sift through them they basically stand on there own the clumps get left behind(and or squashed lol) point being the individuals are all together in bowl happy and then we can concentrate on the clumps left behind (representative of the slime balls criminals and fix the heart of the matter).
