it was a BS call that even the announcers calling the game said was wrong, Mike Perraira said was wrong, and completely changed the momentum of the game

Unbelievable. The league should be embarrassed.

I would've given him a helmet sticker myself

  1. A player who receives a “blindside” block when the blocker is moving toward his own endline and approaches the opponent from behind or from the side.

Looks like pretty good proof that he was not moving toward his own endline or hitting from behind or the side. Not only was that a bullshit call, how in the world can you then fine LK for a blown call on a legal block. I sure hope he appeals it on the grounds of ignorance and stupidity. This fucking league these days.

Before the end of the Goodell era players will be wearing flags and tackling will be a fine-able offense. How I miss football of the 70's and 80's!

This was right on the edge and in that case if I'm the NFL I don't say the call was wrong but I don't fine the player either.

See, that's where we differ.

Personally, I don't miss the football of the 70's and 80's, not because I wasn't alive to witness them, but because the quality of life those men "enjoy" today and how they have to watch their buddies die and suffer from horrible diseases like dimensia, alzheimers, ALS, and the like. The steps the league has taken over the past decade, especially with the advent of concussion protocols and the like have done more good for the players than anything in the league's history, and that should be applauded.

Having said that, what Kendricks did was not only legal and not a penalty, but it is how the game should be taught! He faces up his man, hits him in the chest, blocks downfield for his receiver which is a lost fricking art, and finishes his block THROUGH the man's chest, which is football 101. The fact that a penalty was called, subsequently not picked up, could not be challenged (which I HATE), and then the offending player was fined for it is the tragedy, not the spirit of the rules.

The spirit of the rules is adding years and quality of life to men who, not ten years prior, were shooting themselves in the chest with a shotgun to preserve their brains for science (Seau).

The enforcement of the rules is deplorable.

Slowed down the video and saw that LK turned to make the block at about the 19 1/2 yard line, and made contact at about the 21 yard line.. and was actually facing the guy he flattened

I've no idea how the rule was meant to be called, Kendricks was moving toward his own endline and his initial approach was from the side, now the defender had turned and made around 3 steps before the block.

It depends how the rule was meant to be implemented, if it was meant for a case like that then fair enough, if it was meant for a block which actually happens in the back or side then it's bull shit.

Looks like he was blocking that guy face to face to me and Kendrick's had the momentum. I would give Kendrick's a $22,050 bonus for a good block.

No one wants to see a player injured or be subjected to a horrible disease. But, many past players will tell you they knew that football was a violent sport. Again, I am not saying I want them to have terrible afflictions. But football without hitting is, well, boring to me. In 2014, players can't hit high...so they hit low. I think a look at this era from the future will show more leg injuries and players with shortened careers (and have trouble walking and getting out of bed). I think The sport will also morph into one with less contact. That is not my type of football. (I said my type.) Ask yourself, how far are you willing to change football to protect the players before it no longer appeals to you and you stop watching?

That is my point. The football I grew up with is quickly becoming something else.

Meh. They're gonna err on the side of caution, and a case could be made that he was facing up-field.

I don't know if these guys have a bigger percentage that develop these ailments it seems there are plenty of folks out there suffering from these that never played football even in high school. Life sucks sometimes and none of us get out of here alive playing in the NFL is a privilege not many get to have and I'll bet none would give back.

The block was good football regardless what some suit made up as a rule.

Did that chump from the niners get fined for body slamming Tre??

Fisher said he agreed with the call when he reviewed it. I'm not going to complain if Fish thinks it's the right call.
