This is a guy that id be very interested in for the rams second round pick. He is tall with long arms and great leaping ability. If his comparison is Allen Robinson Id definitely take that, He has great hands and great fight for the ball.

Pros
  • Simply does not drop the ball. Strong hands catcher who snags everything in sight
  • Consistently wins 50/50 balls; shows excellent concentration and toughness to win contests
  • Tremendous body control; able to adjust to ball mid-air and extend arms away from body
  • Prototypical height and long arms provide massive catch radius
  • Masterful job tracking ball downfield
  • Leaping ability gives added advantage over defensive backs. Perfectly times his vault and plucks the ball at its zenith
  • Boxes out and seals defenders like a power forward; does a great job positioning his body
  • Tough route-runner, fights back to the football
  • Smooth acceleration; strong build-up speed
Cons
  • Not an exceptionally explosive athlete. More of a Cadillac than a Ferrari
  • Speed is more than adequate, but not a burner
  • Limited route-tree. Ran a lot gos, slants, digs, comebacks, etc.
  • Tall but not physical. A little lanky, could stand to add some more muscle
  • May struggle to beat press coverage against more physical corners
  • Lack of suddenness leads some to question next-level separation skills
  • Missed final three-plus games with wrist injury
Overall
TCU's Josh Doctson is like that smooth, shiny Cadillac CTS that never goes out of style. He's not going to flash like a Ferrari or Maserati, but in the mold of a Michael Crabtree or Allen Robinson, Doctson has all the makings of a quarterback's best friend at the next level.

When watching Doctson over his TCU career the trust factor quarterback Trevone Boykin had with him was incredible. Knowing Doctson's ability to consistently win jump balls, blanketed slants, comebacks and passes along the sideline led Boykin and Doctson frequently connect where there seemed to be nothing open. If the ball is thrown anywhere near Doctson, you can bet he's coming down with it, usually no matter how many defenders are around him.

However, Doctson's most impressive trait - his ability to win contested passes - leads to a concern for many; why are so many of his receptions hotly contested? Why isn't he wide open more often? We've noted how smooth of an athlete Doctson is, but he doesn't have blazing speed and isn't an explosive route-runner.

Josh Doctson is a possession receiver; though he does have big play ability. His ceiling isn't as high as some other prospects, but his floor is elevated. Doctson may always be underappreciated like a Crabtree or Robinson, but he'll be productive and you always known what you're getting.

Yep, he's a great fit man just like Boyd. But in his case he's most likely going round 1 so Rams would need to wait on QB or move back into round 1 to get him.

Don't they make the Caddy CTS with the Hemi engine?

I agree that he has great fight for the ball in the air with great leaping ability but he isn't like Boldin. Boldin is a physical possession receiver who is 6'1" 220lbs, Doctson is more of an intermediate and deep threat that is lanky and long at 6'3" 195lbs. Boldin also ran a 4.71 40 and I believe Doctson will run sub 4.5. Just different type players is all im saying.
