Jeff Fisher is starting his own podcast

Much was made (and still is) about Jeff Fisher’s rocky tenure with the Rams from 2012-2016. He never led the team to eight or more wins, finishing between 6-10 and 7-8-1 four times. He became the butt of 7-9 jokes across the internet, especially after his “7-9 bullshit” rant on “Hard Knocks.”

Fisher hasn’t coached in the NFL since, but he’s still staying relevant in the sports space by remaining active on Twitter. Fisher is a worthwhile follow on the social media site, and his new podcast will certainly be worth listening to.

On Tuesday, he teased his upcoming podcast called “In the Box with Jeff Fisher.” He didn’t share any details beyond the tweet, but did say it’s coming soon.

Fisher has appeared on radio shows and podcasts in the past and shared some insightful information. Hopefully with a podcast of his own, he’ll shed light on his time with the Rams, as well as his coaching career as a whole.

Fisher went 31-45-1 overall with the Rams and never reached the postseason. He was fired 13 games into the 2016 season, opening the door for John Fassel to take over as the interim head coach. Sean McVay was hired the following year in 2017.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I've always liked and respected Coach Fish. He just got promoted too quickly to HC in my estimation and never did grow into an elite defensive mind.

Still think he'd be a great college program coach. The dude is an elite motivator and leader which would be important to me if I'm an Athletic Director at that level.

I might listen to it if he was talking about something OTHER THAN football. Like maybe fishing or how to grow a mullet and a porn stache.

I mean fuck... I can teach people how to run a middle school offense in football without any help from him. Hopefully this podcast isn't a serious attempt at football discussion. Well, unless it allows him to fool the cardinals into hiring him in Arizona next.

I'm sure I'd greatly enjoy his company for a few hours sitting at the bar shooting the shit. He's a cool guy... but his coach speak and attempts to appear as though he is a relevant football guy now would get old for me quick. Hopefully his podcast is just him being a regular guy... like a guy shooting the shit at the bar next to you... and not a sales pitch for another coaching job. That would be embarrassing if you ask me. Unless of course he's able to get hired in Zona like I already said. LOL

I can't wait! I'm headed to Yellowstone and Montana next week and could use all that fishing knowledge Jeff got up there the past 3 years! Sure hope he shares some tips.

I don't think I could stand 7-9 minutes of him.

I had no idea when I heard him say that it would be the but of jokes for so long. :ROFLMAO:

I think he could be a good DC in the NFL, our defense was always solid under him. And maybe a head coach for a team that is always going 3-13, he could improve them to 7-9 right away.

Fisher moved the needle for the Rams but he wasn't the coach needed for sustained success. The moment of truth was the “where’s my challenge flag” moment.

7-9? He didn't get anywhere near that other than his first year with us. It's more like 4-12 bullshit.

That's why McVay is such a breath of fresh air, the kind of air you'd find in the Rockies, mostly. (And yes, that's the cleanest air I've ever tasted.)

Jeff Fisher was an amazing Players coach. Excellent motivator. His biggest failure was trying to input too much on the offense without hiring a decent offensive coordinator. If he had a Mike Martz as offensive and stayed as the head coach he might have been more successful. But alas, he tried his ground and pound and win with defense far too long.

I was excited for the hire...after dealing with so many failed Coordinators, it was nice getting someone established. His record of mediocrity be damned. He seems like a genuine good guy and the players seemed to love him.

But damn...I hope he lets us know why he chose to run a grade school offense and waisted what little talent we had.

If he focuses solely on the defensive side in his podcasts, it might be a good listen.

But if he goes to the offensive side at all, it will be a click off.
