Rough few days for the Ram CB situation. Fisher IR'd Cortland Finnegan yesterday then in today's game Trumaine Johnson our best playing corner suffered a bad concussion. Leaving the Rams with just two healthy CB's. Teams usually have five CB's on the roster...should we be concerned??

Rams LCB Trumaine Johnson was forced from St. Louis' Week 12 game against the Bears with a concussion, and will not return. With Cortland Finnegan on injured reserve, it leaves the Rams with just Janoris Jenkins and Brandon McGee at cornerback. In the middle of an up-and-down year, Johnson is week to week.

Pointer will be seeing action next week!

McGee struggled. But he's a rookie!

I'd be a little concerned. Worst case scenario, if Tru misses any time, make Pointer active on game day, move McLeod to CB and start either Giodarno or Stewart at S.

McGee got thrown into the fire when our starting CB went down. This was his first game with major exposure, and he struggled. He's not the first rookie CB to struggle, and he won't be the last. He simply has to suck it up, learn what he can from his errors, and prepare for the '9ers next week.

Fisher knows his CB's.

McGee should be fine... Learn quick, tho, brother! :heh:

Just found this .. I was wondering what was wrong with Cortland's eye. With the recent Trumaine Johnson injury ...I wonder if Fisher will also bring up PS CB Darren Woodard now too?
If they did that would give Fisher 4 healthy CB's? But if the back up safeties could get healthy Fisher could use Rodney McLeod as the Nickle.

Rams placed CB Cortland Finnegan on injured reserve with a fractured orbital bone, ending his season.

Brandon McGee played very badly... but it's hard to be mad at him. Tough situation. I'm worried about Tru and our CB spot going forward this year..

Wonder if CF received his injury in a game. Sounds like he pissed off the wrong person.

Was listening to the post game broadcast on the radio after the game was over. Fisher said he suffered the injury vs SF and played through it. Doc then recommended to shut it down.

The situation with CF is a very serious one...so much cap $$ was invested into CF to be the big leader in the secondary since the Rams went with a very very young secondary cadre...27 games later this investment has went south fast. As posted on this yesterday by many ROD'mers Things started out well enough but by the last quarter of the 2012 season CF has lost his starting position to Johnson. Its been said he lost it due to a thigh injury but he never got better. When this season opened up once gain CF was outplayed by Johnson mater of fact ...Trumaine Johnson ceased the mantel away from JJ as the Rams best CB. The 9ers game according to Fisher CF received several injuries a re injured or re aggravation to the 2012 thigh and now we hear of a fractured orbital bone! of the five games he played in this season he finished only three. CF is a small corner some sites have him under 180 pounds on a very thin frame.

CF will be paid 15 million for his services this very short season....looks like if CF was fully healthy his role would be @ best the Nickle..do you pay 15 mil for a nickle back?? is this a wise use of valuable priceless cap $$ most will say it way too early for any wild guesses on his future status with this Rams team but I would consider it highly unlikely that CF will beat out JJ & TJ as starters. Rams can always use good corners but there was nothing good about CF this season from the get go.

Rams have big time issues with their secondary early & now in the last two games they have been gashed for over 700 yds! That's even with one of the NFL best pass rushing DL's! Rams have won big in these games so it slightly tainted...but DC Walton has been disappointing with only five games left. I just do not see how CF and his mega cap cost fits into the Rams future plans. Does any ROD'mer know of any merits of keeping CF past this season??

I'll be very surprised if Finnegan is back. Very.

Corner suddenly looks like the biggest need on the team...and I had just posted that there weren't any major needs...just concerns. MaGee seems short for a starter. Finn is washed up. And Pointer or Woodard can be improved upon in the draft.

I like the idea of moving McLeod to Nickle and bringing Stewart in to pair with TJ. I think we saw a little of that in this game.

MaGee was not bad because of his PI calls btw. He was bad because he wasn't beaten on the plays. The interference probably saved TDs and it allowed more time to run off the clock.

I agree that CB looks to be a bigger need than I thought going into the season. With Finnegan either done for 2014 or, barring a comeback, playing at a diminished role, you simply need 3 competent CBs in this league. I like Tru Johnson a lot but Jenkins frustrates the hell out of me. If you aren't a good tackler you need to be glue in coverage and this season he isn't IMO. His gambles also haven't paid off. I have no idea if the rookie from Miami may become solid but he sure had a rocky start. I'm not big on McCleod as others and like him as a backup both at Safety and Emergency CB.

Defensively I think CB and Safety are high priorities. I think one of the rookie LBs can take the strong side spot from JL Dunbar, and maybe look at DT for rotation or depth but for sure CB and Safety.
