I was a Watkins guy, but I understood the GRob pick. It is awesome though how far he has come in just the last couple of months. He will be a bookend LT for a decade or so.

He just needed time to know what he was doing for each situation in this more aggressive style. Dude is locked in now, and his speed is going to ensure he's in on a lot of plays that some LBs would miss out on.

I think it was last week they posted a stat, GZ is the 2nd most accurate kicker in Rams history, after Josh Brown. Interesting that Brown was that good, but still, people wanting to get rid of this guy are crazy at best.

Afaic, once the light switch came on for Ogletree and McDonald the D just took off. It still wasn't working through 7 games (the KC game in week 7), and I was having my doubts. But starting with the SF game, this D has been playing like we hoped they would. Aggressive, intimidating, dynamic, play making. It started with the pass rush against San Fran (rarely more than 5 people, but you never know which 5) which was the foundation for everything else. But the biggest difference these last three weeks imho has been Ogletree and McDonald. Their emergence as "jokers" in Greg W's D has put given this D the aggressive/dynamic edge it needed, and made everyone else look better (e.g. McLeod).

Also... getting Tru Jo back has been huge. Is it just a coincidence that the defense turned the corner the week he came back?

Getting CLong back will be... awesome!

You mean now that our D is coming close to what we all expected it to be after most of the season is gone we should give credit to GW? I like your loyalty but when you have as many top draft choices playing for you as we do and two of them include one of the best DTs and DEs in the NFL, then being a top five D is expected. Did the first half of the year not happen? The problem with only looking at a few games when making a decision about GW (or anyone else) is that you find yourself anointing players like Austin Davis as our new QB. The Ram's, despite the addition of Gaines, Donald and Joyner are not fielding a D as good as the one we had last year without them.

So I won't be posting in the "I'll be the first to say I was wrong about GW" thread unless I see something a lot better than what I've seen so far. We might get there and I'd be no less happy about that than you but we aren't there yet. Just my opinion though and I know I'm swimming against the tide but that's not somewhere I haven't been before.

I have to say the lights have finally came on for the entire defense. Its night and day from game one of the season. Now they are out there playing reading and reacting.

If we can just get Jenkins under control OMG he kills me with some of busted coverages he has on his side.

But have to give credit to Greg Williams he has stayed the course and its finally paying off.

I was a huge Watkins guy, and I thought Robinson was too raw with no guarantee that he would be a good pass blocker. That said I was impressed the Robinson completely handling Ware as I remember Ware destroying Long last year. Its a good thing now that they drafted Robinson because they would be screwed without him. Id still love to have Watkins though too.
