Broncos cut ILB Todd Davis

Jets cut ILB James Burgess

Both would be upgrades for us at ILB over Kenny Young. Not sure what the contract situations are but maybe we look into signing one of these two?

Lol calling Burgess a starter. Davis is good vs the run and terrible in pass defense. Burgess is nothing more than depth.

Yeah if it's not a coverage backer I doubt we will be too active.

If we do sign someone its going to be an ILB that's good in coverage

McVay is not going to throw his players, the ISLbers under the bus. They may go with what they have but, may not be real happy about it. The cap space is tight.

And he may actually be happy with them. It could be that if he sees talent there but they need work he'd come out and say there were looking at options to motivate them. We can play this game trying to pick apart his comments all day but in the end we can only really take the coach at his word.

I'm not picking his comments apart! That's why I said he may not be real happy. He did lose his starting ISLber in Howard. The main point is McVay is not going to say negative things about his players he is trying to build up.

I stand by my post.

With having 16 players on the PS this year I wouldn’t mind picking up a waiver or 2. ILB, OL, and RB look like one more injury away from panic. there is more room on the PS for the young guys to develop.

And I wasn't attacking you sorry if it came across like that :) You see in just about every thread somebody quoting McVay and immediately there's discussion about what he really said that's it.

I think we should pick up Todd Davis. We could use a vet in the middle of the defense that has familiarity with our new DC.

Makes too much sense - cap permitting, but I doubt he'd be expensive.

In my opinion, you did attack my post. It's not the first time.

I wasn't playing a game. Nor was I picking his comments apart. I was giving my opinion on the possibility that McVay and the Rams may not be real happy with the ISLber position. That is not a stretch after losing a starter and no experience starters within the unit. Kenny Young with limited experience.

I'm struggling what to say here. I appreciate your opinions and work to give updates. You could have quoted my post and just responded with "McVay could really be happy with the ISLber position." and leave it at that to give your opinion to members. I would have respected your opinion and given you a cheers response.

Back to the cut-down thread!

McVay and coaches may be OK with current LB's, but I sure as hell am NOT. I see Rams getting shredded by TE's over the middle and RB's getting 5 to 7 yds a carry up the gut if Reeder is in at ILB. Guy is slow and though he makes tackles, unfortunately its after a signifigant gain.

But how many of those ILB from the last few years that were getting shredded are going to be starting this year? Maybe it's a good thing we are going with the young guys. How bad our ILB were like you said always made it interesting that so many wanted to keep Littleton and Ogletree.

Ogletree often misread and was caught out of position. Littleton was good in coverage but weak against the run. Laurenitus was slow.

I'm all for trotting out new guys, always a diamond in he rough, But is sure would be nice to have a proven veteran out there with them. Floyd is that guy, but he's new.

Still a lot of cuts to be made and might be someone coaches like.

I am not a coach. just a lifelong Rams fan but why not pick up 1 vet ILB (like Nigel Bradham) for security until the young guys prove themselves. I hope I am wrong but I have hope for Kiser then I don’t have a lot of optimism for anyone else this year at ILB.
