There seems to be a groundswell around Seattle and San Francisco having the best rivalry in the NFL right now.

Lots of stories;

Even a poll on ESPN;

My question to the board isn't about the rivalry between these two teams.

Instead; how does this effect the Rams?

I got to believe Fisher will use this as a motivator.

In addition; let those teams beat each other up. Then we'll move in for the take down.

I'm sure it's the norm to say Fisher probably doesn't care about all that, but I'm betting he does. A lot. He would often sneak in the fact that we went 4-1-1 in the division last year when someone would bring up another team in the division. He's also a former player. Players have a lot of pride about personal achievements, and a lot of them harbor a lot of resentment for being overlooked. That stuff HAS to carry over to his coaching life.

And finally, all you have to do is recall what he said about the Rams during SB 34.
"Look at them - they're celebrating!!! They're celebrating!!! Go Win the GAME!!!!"

He takes this shit seriously.

Add to that - he grew up a Rams fan. Anyone really think that rivalry with the Whiners means NOTHING to him? He won't say it but you KNOW he wants to bitch slap the Whiners EVERY time his team plays them.

As far as the shecocks/whiner rivalry? The shecocks haven't earned it and the whiners haven't been good enough since the cocks invaded our division to warrant the term rivalry. The cocks/raiduh rivalry was getting there before the NFL derailed THAT one.

Regardless. Let them beat the crap out of each other and read their own press. We'll just go about the business of building a sustainable winner.

I get what you're saying. It's been too long since we've been relevant. I think it only affects the Rams if we go back to being cellar dwellers while those other two maggot infested franchises stay strong. If we do what I think we are going to do, THE rivalry - Rams vs 49ers will re-establish itself. What I would hate is if we moved to another division. And it sure as HELL better not be the AFC if we do. That would be just too many types of wrong.
