Still wondering what would have happened if we had the #1 pick.

Don't know about Fisher, but if I were charge Andrew Luck and his cheaper contract would be the Rams starting QB and Bradford would be dealt to the highest bidder.

i got a hunch it wouldn't have mattered to fisher - he would have kept bradford. although at #1 having to choose from luck and rg3, that would have driven up the bidding wars substantially.

they preached all off season, pre draft, during the combine, etc. bradford was their QB. cleveland offered the #4 pick for bradford as well, still refused it.

Yeah, but when Fisher came on board the Rams fate picking #2 was already sealed.

Same. Remember, it all came down to a chip shot field goal against Cleveland. They missed it so we won. SMH. :dahh:

That could just mean that Fisher and the Rams weren't as high on RGIII. I wouldn't have accepted that trade either.

Me either. Sam Bradford > RGIII all day and every day.

The only consideration that would make me pause is if Luck were available to us.

I think it would have been a gigantic mistake to trade Bradford and take Luck. RGIII was, imo, the better prospect and I didn't want him over Bradford. Luck just doesn't have Bradford's arm talent and he never will.

Like I said, I don't think it would have mattered to fisher. If you remember, when he was picking teams, he wanted to come to a team with an already established Quarterback. That pretty much rules out drafting one if he's already looking for one place. And what two teams did it come down to? Us, and the dolphins... clearly he likes bradford more than tannehill lol

Really???

jrry, if almost anyone else said that I would say he doesn't know what he's talking about.

I would jump at a trade for Luck for Bradford is a heart beat. Luck looks like a great player already to me. What makes you think Bradford is gonna be a better QB than Luck?

Ditto.
Not a swipe at Bradford at all, just cap space. Would have had Luck for longer and cheaper so we could have added more talent.

Luck looks like a "great" player because he's coming off his rookie year. People said the same thing about Bradford after his rookie year. For all the hype Luck gets, Bradford outplayed him last year. And I know, that's not entirely fair because Luck was a rookie and Bradford wasn't.

But...
Luck's rookie QB Rating - 76.5
Bradford's rookie QB Rating - 76.5

It's certainly interesting but I've never been one to go by the numbers.

The key difference between Luck and Bradford is arm strength. Luck has a below average arm while Bradford's arm is firmly in the very good category. Luck struggles to make intermediate and deep sideline throws. Bradford makes them with ease.

That's a limitation that will never go away. You are certainly capable of becoming a great QB even with that limitation but we're not talking about Luck vs. Josh Freeman. Bradford is an EXTREMELY talented QB in his own right.

Luck gets a lot of love because he's got a hype machine running for him...you watch these plays and you tell me he's already a great QB:

Will Luck take steps forward in his second year? I'm sure he will. He's a very talented kid. Can Luck be great? Certainly. Is he in an offense that better suits his skill-set right now? Yes. Was he great as a rookie? Not even close.

As far as Luck this year...he still has that gunslinger mentality to his game. The Colts lost to the Dolphins 24-20 last Sunday. They were on Miami's 35 with over 8 minutes left in the 4th. It was 1st and 10. Here's what Luck did:
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap2000000244506/Grimes-picks-off-Luck" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-high ... s-off-Luck</a>
Again, if Sam had made that decision and throw...he would have been crucified. Forced and under-threw the ball.

Luck's ints will be down this year because in Hamilton's WCO, he'll be doing less down the field passing than he did last year but he's still a risk-taker...and risk-takers have their drawbacks.

I also would like to point out that Andrew Luck led the NFL in 2012 with 14 dropped interceptions by footballoutsiders count. That's a lot of "Luck". :ww:

I'm with jrry on this one. Luck was more prepared for the NFL, but he doesn't have Bradford's accuracy and consistent ball placement.

Luck has shown early on that he can thrive even when under pressure, but Bradford would ultimately be more productive if both were surrounded by good talent. I'd compare Luck to Roethlisberger with his grit and toughness, but Bradford to Brady with the ability to dissect a defense when given enough time in the pocket and solid weapons.

The problem with being a no.1 overall pick is that the team that picks you likely doesn't have a good supporting cast for their young QB, but we finally seem to be getting there.

Great post jerry.

That's the problem with the grass is always greener on the other side crowd. They over analyse every mistake bradford makes but just see highlights of other qbs and assume they don't make any mistakes or dumb throws, or leave tds on the field.

That's a solid argument, jrry.

I know one thing; there are a pocket of Rams fans (thankfully few - if any - here) that take every mistake Bradford makes and blows it up. Dude can't miss a throw without getting BBQ'd.

The truth is; every QB makes mistakes and sucks from time to time.

Eli Manning has 7 interceptions through 2 games.

Peyton Manning threw 11 interceptions in a 3 game stretch back in 2010.

Quarterbacking ain't easy.

Back to Andrew Luck... yeah... it's too early to crown him superior.
