I voted 1st round pick. Arguably the greatest of all time.

Or you could pick Greg Robinson instead...

Hekker was the one player I could hang my hat on as a fantastic player during the Fisher days.

Worst team in the league hey but we have the best punter.
How about Todd Gurley or Aaron Donald ?

They had their own highlights. But I could literally point at stats and say "Look at my punter!"

And it's added that he was so consistent. He had a high volume and was still so productive.

I love Todd!

I love Aaron!

But Johnny, over those terrible years, has been the guy that I just fell in love watching. He truly is a We Not Me player, but even before that he takes everyday as an opportunity to improve.

It has been amazing to watch him over his career. Mastering certain punt techniques, driving 80 yarders, throwing tds, etc.

Understanding that the NFL is bigger than the actual game and taking on a huge role as an ambassador for the league and the Rams.

Feel like it depends on the team. For an offensive prolific team like the current rams it probably wouldn’t worth using anything higher than a 4th simply because of the usage rate. But a team that had success thanks to their d like the bears, I’d say a 1st or 2nd is completely reasonable

Great question.

For reference - here is who we took the year Hek was eligible:

PLAYER POSITION SCHOOL
14 Michael Brockers DT LSU
33 Brian Quick WR Appalachian State
39 Janoris Jenkins CB North Alabama
50 Isaiah Pead RB Cincinnati
65 Trumaine Johnson CB Montana
96 Chris Givens WR Wake Forest
150 Rokevious Watkins G South Carolina
171 Greg Zuerlein K Missouri Western State
209 Aaron Brown LB Hawaii
252 Daryl Richardson RB Abilene Christian

I’d say first pick in round 2 would have had us as the laughing stock of the league and yet would have been a good choice.

I believe this was Les Sneeds first ever draft, btw - right?

With this crystal ball, the logical answer is 2nd.

And Zuerlein 4th.

These two have much to do with coming oh so close to the Lombardi last year.

As a coach, knowing that you have Hekker means you can do certain things in terms of playcalling. This is value without Hekker even touching the field.

5th - never draft a punter before then.

Hekker is the best - he had a great Super Bowl overall, but it should be pointed out that his punt before the Patriots TD drive was horrible and contributed to us losing the game.
