Approximately 10% of the world's population is left-handed. Are you one of them?

Fun Facts About Lefties

Left-handers are three times more likely to become alcoholics than right-handers.

About 30 million Americans are left-handed.

Lefties tend to reach puberty 4-5 months later than righties.

Lefties tend to use the right side of their brains more.

Although it's more of a left-brain function, left-handed people tend to be better at math, while righties tend to be better at language tasks.

With that emphasis on math, it's no surprise that, among college graduates, lefties tend to make 26% more money than righties.

Lefties make up four out of the past seven presidents.

One quarter of the Apollo astronauts were left-handed, including Jim Lovell, Mike Collins, and Wally Schirra.

Lefties make great tennis players, baseball players, swimmers, and boxers. Almost 40% of pro tennis players are left-handed.

Queen Elizabeth II is left-handed, as are a few other royals, including Prince Charles and Prince William.

Although about 90% of humans are right-handed, cats, rats, and mice are about equally right- and left-handed.

Being left-handed used to be a sign of evil. The word "sinister" comes from the Latin for "left, on the left side." But being left-handed is also associated with creativity and musical abilities.

The English word "left" comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for "broken or weak."

Women over 40 are 128% more likely to give birth to a left-hander than women in their 20s.

Lefties are more likely to suffer from allergies and asthma.

Lefties are more likely to suffer from insomnia.

The longest word that can be typed using only the left hand? Stewardesses.

And left-handed people see underwater better than righties.

I nailed that first one early in life @Prime Time .

Lefty dominant ambidextrous here.

When I was younger I was slightly ambidextrous, I could do some things pretty well right handed and still to this day, like I always have, I kick with my right foot, and my right leg is stronger than my left like it would be on a right handed person.

I throw a baseball with my right hand but hit from both sides and kick a ball equally with each foot. I write and eat left handed. I play a guitar “backwards”and badly :)

My Grandmother was left handed too. When I was young, my Grandfather would always buy her the newest and best spinning fishing reels. Those reels can be set up for left or right handed use. I would always use her brand new gear, but she wouldn't allow me to switch the reel handle over (even though it is a simple switch). As a result, I fish left handed to this day. The funny thing is that my twin sons do too... but my oldest can ONLY fish right handed. We are all right handed. When we take people out fishing with us, most of them freak out when they go to use one of our spinning rigs. I always hear - "Hey, all your reels are backwards". Hahaha. I can't fish comfortably right handed at all.

I also shoot left handed... but that's because my left eye has better vision than my right. People ask me about that weird switch too.

So I am left handed with some things.

I'm exactly the same as you, except the guitar. I dont play guitar, but when messing with it, not backwards.

One thing when golfing, I carry one lefty 7 iron. In case I'm by a tree or some other reason, I'll bust it out and swing left!

It's called left eye dominant. I know several hunters that are right handed but shoot left handed bows, rifles, and shoot pistols from a left handed stance.

As far as the left handed reel thing... do you mean you reel with the left? All my reels are set up that way because I cast with my right hand and thumb the spool with my right thumb. Interestingly (or not) my buddy, who is right handed and left eye dominant has his all set up for right hand reeling - which always fucks me up when I have to speed reel his line in when we have a fish on one of the other poles and he's operating the boat or net..

I'm talking about spinning reels. With spinning reels you can move the handle to the right or left side of the reel. Righties reel with their left hand and lefties reel with their right hand.

All my big trolling reels and bottom fishing reels have the handles on the right and they cannot be moved. Spinning reels give you the option of switching the handle to either side of the reel.

OK. I just thought of something.

I wipe right handed. But hold Mr. Happy in the left hand when peeing.

Lefties..........weigh in on this because it's important. Inquiring minds need to know.

@OldSchool @Karate61 @Selassie I you guys especially..........let us know if you have switched like you have when hitting a baseball or fishing.

What would that mean @Selassie I as far as which hand you crank with. I'm curious because I know how I do it but don't fish often enough to know what side means what..........

I just went outside and took a pic of one of my spinning rod set-ups. This is what left-handed looks like on a spinning reel. Remember... the reel is under the rod on a spinning set-up. You can switch the handle to either side of the reel with spinning reels... so 90% of spinning rod users (righties) have the handle set up to crank with their left hand.

In this pic I'm holding the rod with my left hand... I reel the handle with my right. That's the lefty way.

Yep. That’s what fucks me up every time. If I ever get out there to fish with you, I’m either bringing my reel or we’re flipping that bitch to the other side.
