I have been doing crossfit workouts, off and on due to covid, since Feb. In March my wife noticed my belly button was changing and my Dr diagnosed it as umbilical hernia. A few weeks later it grew a little so I contacted a surgeon and she recommended getting it repaired before it grew any more. Due to covid it took till yesterday to get an appointment. I never knew how much you use your core muscles before last night. They pumped my full of dilaudid and sent me home, I am glad this stuff wasnt available on the street back when I was drinking and using. I would have overdosed on that shit for sure. Even the ride home was way more fun loaded, something about being oblivious to everything but my heart beat and breathing was very relaxing.

I was surprised to learn that every single exercise I have been doing in the gym should be avoided with any hernia. So now the only exercise I can do for the next 2 weeks is walking, then jogging for the next 2-4 weeks. Hopefully I can keep off the weight I have lost so I'm not starting all over when I return to the gym. Now I have 7 weeks to spend time with my 4yr old Grandson and my Granddaughter that will be born on my birthday this coming Monday.

I'm glad mine was small and didnt really hurt before surgery. Also glad it wasnt an inguinial hernia, I have heard those are painful.

Hope you're feeling better. I need to investigate some of that exercise stuff, been doing nothing but eating and sitting on my ass since I retired last year.

But not starting today. Maybe tomorrow. :beer2:

I'm feeling much better thank you. The incision looks like it is healing up well, itches like hell. According to Dr I can start walking/jogging today, but tomorrow sounds better :ROFLMAO:. Still at least 4 weeks from doing any strength training, probably will get back to gym in another week and just do cardio.

I had the same surgery when I was 6 years old. When i was an infant i cried very hard and my belly button just popped open like a balloon. i remember the pain afterward.....i came home on a sunday and my family was watching the flip wilson show. it was so funny, but it killed me because i couldn't stop trying to laugh. side note, my mom and dad got me a Rams helmet from Sears as a gift when i was released from the hospital. the old blue with white horns......i guess that was the day i became a fan in 1972!
