We could actually do this for any of our DL from this past week btw. Brock was outstanding in this one. So was AD of course and you could do a show on just how he performed in this game. But SJD and Fox also played really well, the entire line pushed the WTFs all over the joint and dominated the LOS.

But there's just some really good Gaines stuff in this one and the guy's been playing very well for us in rotation all season, so gonna give the big guy some accolades here. :fistbump:

Pre-snap we see the big fella lining up 1T, Brock & Fox on the ends:

At the snap he's singled up vs 71 (RG) and the run action is coming his direction:

A beat later Gaines stands him up like the blocking dummy:

And sheds his ass:
1602713629809.png

Loses his feet there at the end (he won't make tackle) but the run ends up stuffed.

Pre-snap Gaines looking like he's been eating his veggies. Or maybe the white pants make his ass look fat who knows. :ROFLMAO:

At the snap he's got a C/RG duo and stops that shit cold:

A beat later the LT comes in and makes it a trio but the Griz holds:

Back has to break it outside for a non-gainer:

That's impressive. That's the type of play I was hoping Gaines could bring to this team all along. I was starting to lose hope but figured maybe he just needed to beef up.

Then picks up the scent of a young buck named Hemingway:

Ever seen a bear run down a buck? Me either. But he's locked on him and trackin:

Hemingway gets the ball with some green but check out his rear-view: (y)

HAWKED. That's right. That just happened.

I think he and SJD are a great duo at NT. They've been good for the most part all season. They don't rush the passer well but both have high motors and both are powerful.

I was hoping he'd start last year, but rookie DTs rarely contribute at this level, they need to get stronger, and learn the game usually.

That tackle from behind blew me away! By the way, as people from Alaska know, grizzly bears can sprint at 35-40 mph.

They just need to play Gaines more. He is much better at the NT spot than SJG IMHO. Doesn't get moved and creates havoc in the O line shutting downs gaps and lanes. He reads plays extremely well and seems to know where the ball is going. Looks extremely assignment sound.

His snaps have increased for a reason.

Gaines always looked in need of NFL level training to me, that tackle there... whoa!

This has nothing do to with anything. But he looks like WWE wrestler Kevin Owens:
