Gisele says Tom Brady had a concussion last year, has had others

The New England Patriots played 19 games last season and filed several injury reports each week. The only two times Tom Brady appeared on the injury report, he was designated as questionable due to a thigh injury.

According to his wife, though, Brady sustained a concussion last season. Gisele Bundchen told Charlie Rose on "CBS This Morning" that Brady "does have concussions."

"I just have to say, as a wife, I'm a little bit -- as you know, it's not the most, like -- let's say, [it's] an aggressive sport. Right? Football, like, he had a concussion last year. He has concussions, pretty much. I mean, we don't talk about it. But he does have concussions. And I don't really think it's a healthy thing for your body to go through that kind of aggression, like, all the time. That cannot be healthy for you, right? And I'm planning on having him be healthy and do a lot of fun things we when are like 100 [years old], I hope."

The revelation that Brady might have sustained a concussion at some point is not exactly shocking. Quarterbacks take vicious hits all the time and concussions also often result from repeated small blows to the head, of which quarterbacks take plenty as well.

The bigger news here would be Brady having a concussion and the Patriots not reporting it. Failure to properly disclose an injury has in the past occasionally resulted in the loss of a draft pick, though the Seahawks did not lose a pick for their failure to disclose Richard Sherman's MCL injury last season.

It's obviously not known if the NFL would consider the extemporaneous comments of a player's wife to be evidence of an injury that actually occurred, and it's not known if the "we" Gisele was referring to when she said "we don't talk about" meant the Patriots, or herself and Brady. The latter would mean that Brady concealed the injury from the team, rather than the team concealing it from the league, which would probably insulate the Patriots from any punishment.

Non-football related I am sure. She was probably riding him too hard that he was banging his head on the head board of the bed....

Not trying to be an icehole but come on does she really watch Tom Brady while he plays. You can't hit the guy let alone hit him hard enough to cause him to have a concussion without a player getting a huge fine or ejected for being to rough on Tom Brady.

If it is true, it should lessen any future case that he might file due to CTE/dementia etc....I think every NFL player, especially in the last few years, should be aware of the risks and have little claim when retired (IMHO). Especially when compared to players that played 15 years ago and before.

Saw this. Just weird. NFL releases a statement today about double-checking all reports, etc., and an on-going investigation into the issue, because of these comments.

My questions in no particular order:
a) Does she think she's advocating for him? Follow-up: Does she expect this statement to have any sort of positive effect in his life?
b) Is she sure?
c) Is she real sure?
d) Is Tom Brady somehow a concussion-ninja, more capable than any other human of hiding his concussions?
e) Could this be happening outside of regular games? Follow-up: If so, why the hell is Tom Brady getting hit in the head or battered around in practice?
f) How sure is she?

The only surprising thing is this would mean at some point he stood in the pocket and took a hit.
Hopefully he gets the Theisman treatment this year.

After the backlash from this I will bet money she will say "I mean contusions".

Wanna bet?

Don't think that medical term is in her vocabulary. It almost feels like what she is trying to say is that "My husband is a weak sauce and given his age he needs to retire from football"...

Giselle also believe nightshades (tomatoes, eggplant, etc...) are inflammatory vegetables and should not be eaten. The science behind that idea is dubious at best. I really don't think people can take what she says about health and medicine seriously. She may be right, but I still don't take her seriously.

Actually, she does watch and rather closely. She's been criticized in the past for comments regarding other offensive players, specifically when the team lost in large part because of receiver drops.

I agree that the refs seem to treat him with kid gloves, but he has been hit and he's not 26 years old anymore.

Moreover, as a top model used to traveling the world and enjoying a certain lifestyle, I'm not shocked that she's speaking out about this now. She's not uneducated on this. She's been around football and football players enough (even if only in the context of entertaining and watching games) that she's worried about the active health of her husband.

Which is totally reasonable. Between the two of them, they've got a huge mansion and enough disposable wealth to live the life of Riley and have their kids and beyond never have to worry about a thing. I can't imagine that she would want their lifestyle disrupted by Tom's football injuries stopping their activities (Joe Montana's revelations as to his activity restrictions was kinda eye opening). Not to mention the potential for ALS, CTE or other neurological impairments that are deadly.

Sorry to be the ice bucket, but I tend to believe when people are serious about serious things.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Giselle wanted Tom to retire after they won the Super Bowl. They have everything they could possibly want. She wants an active, healthy husband for a long time. What wife doesn't want that?

I bet there was a fight at the Bunchen/Brady household that night. Belicheat was probably livid, and called Tom to tell him to muzzle his extremely hot, but at the same time oddly manish, wife

The follow up question for her should have been...

"Were these concussions ever in his knees or shoulders,,, or just in his glute's?"

My guess is she would claim he's had them all over his body.

But,,, in all seriousness. This is clearly proof of additional cheating by the cheatingest bunch of cheaters on the planet. Time for more fines and suspensions.
