Get to know a rookie: Jarrid Bryant
By Nick Wagoner

We’ve officially reached the closest thing to a dead period the NFL has to offer these days as organized team activities are over and training camp has not yet arrived.

That means vacation time for the players, coaches and, yes, reporters. In the meantime, let’s get to know some of the lesser-known additions to the Rams roster: the rookie free agents.

Jarrid Bryant

Position: Cornerback

College: South Dakota

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 185 pounds

Stat to know: On the surface, Bryant appears to be a small-school addition but he actually spent four seasons playing at Arizona State, where he earned a bachelor's degree before transferring to South Dakota for his final year of eligibility. Played receiver before becoming a defensive back for the Coyotes. He finished his lone season at South Dakota with 39 tackles and a pair of interceptions in 12 games.

Road to the roster: The first thing that jumps out about Bryant is his height as he towers above most of the Rams' defensive backs. But to make the roster, he's going to have to stand out in many more ways than simple height. The Rams do have room for more help in the secondary and there appear to be some potential openings at cornerback with only Janoris Jenkins, Trumaine Johnson and Lamarcus Joyner locked into spots. Bryant will have an uphill climb to land a spot, though, with former drafted corners Brandon McGee and E.J. Gaines in place and intriguing fellow undrafted rookie Marcus Roberson also in place.
