IMO the game plan concept is simple. Stop Indy's run game and force Wentz to beat you which he won't be able to against this secondary. In other words, get off to a fast start and don't look back. Force the Colts into a shootout which like the Bears they can't win. The promotion of Kiser off the PS IMO is telling. If Young has a weakness it's in stopping the run. Both Kiser and Reed are better in that regard. It will be interesting to see if we see Kiser and Reed on early downs with Young rotating in on passing downs.
The Rams have probably the deepest and most talented WR corps in the NFL. They are legitimately 4 deep at WR and 3 deep at TE and that isn't counting the RBs all of whom can catch. The Rams have speed on both sides of the ball. I expect the Colts to be in zone the entire game due to receiver matchups and Ram's run game. If the OL continues to play at a high level the Rams should win this going away.
This is one of those games where the opposition is outmatched but poses enough of a threat to beat you if you get sloppy. No mistakes or miscues and the Rams win this much like they beat the Bears. That said the Colts are a better team than the Bears so this weekly escalation to next week is perfect for the Rams.
I expect to see more Sony Michel and D Jax along with Tutu on punts and jet sweeps. If the Rams continue to play a power blocking scheme between the tackles it would be the perfect scheme for Michel. With Funk returning KOs and Tutu on punts the STs could set the stage. IMO we saw about a quarter of the offensive playbook, I think McVay will want to give Tampa a lot more to think about.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Hoecht or Gaines at 3T and Donald at 5T. Why pit AD against the strength of the Colt OL which is inside at OG. The Rams would want to test Fisher coming off an Achilles injury. Force him to stress that injury going against a powerful and quick opponent.
That is what most people don't realize. AD plays all over the DL just like Ramsey plays all over the secondary. This will be a good test of the secondary leading into next week. Wentz may not be the elite QB he once was envisioned to be, but he's still good enough to beat you if given a chance. Pressure is the key to beating Wentz. Pressure him and he will throw INTs.
