I'm ashamed to say I was giving Hekker a hard time a few weeks ago, saying I didn't want to pay a punter for his performance.

That was an awful take by me

IMO Akers isn't 100% and probably won't be until after the bye. His injury is a 6-8 week type of injury. So until he's 100% Henderson has proved himself to be a legit #1 type of RB and Brown is the grinder and he showed that this game. They make a good rotation which will only be better when Akers returns.

Kudos to Staley this week for finally using a very good defensive scheme mixing in man ( a lot of it combo), and zone. His zones were played aggressively like they needed to be. He stunted, he blitzed, he faked blitzes, it was a complete package. Why he didn't start the season this way I will never understand because if he had this team would be undefeated. But that said he must build off of this game and continue to game plan in this manner each week.

Finally, Sloman must go !! They were lucky that the block landed in the end zone. What's it going to take? Will it take a loss before they cut the kid? He's basically missed a kick in every damn game. Enough is enough he sucks. 7 weeks into the season and he's still kicking as he did in TC with no improvement. Tuesday is release day so they better not trot him out in Miami. They will have a week to get Forbath up to speed with Hekker.

It's a new scheme, we had a limited off-season, and guys need time to adjust to it under game conditions.

Nice rebound after that "soft shoe" performance against the Niners. The Rams have quite a schedule ahead...THERE ARE NO GAMES OFF TO TAKE!!!

And Sloman slips a bit trying to hammer it. I fear that hurt his longevity with the team.

That's the problem. He shouldn't have to change a thing no matter what the distance is. When he tries to get more distance all his mechanics change from how he plants, to how he swings his leg. That just shows he needs to change everything about his technique. Everything from leg swing, to foot plant, is the same no matter the distance. The fact he's overcompensating shows he doesn't know what he really needs to do. That is not something that can be learned during a season. Anyone evaluating him at TC should know this....it's all placekicking 101 stuff. That is why I've been saying from TC that he's not ready and should not have made the team. Being inaccurate is one thing that is correctable during a season with good coaching. But consistently low kicks means the kid needs a total makeover and that should have been clear in TC. He needs to change his leg swing, how he plants his foot and even how he aligns his body. That's the only way to improve his consistency and prevent these horrific low kicks. Anyone who golfs understands what I'm saying because a lot of the same things apply. That's why some of the best kickers are also good golfers.

I used to work part-time at Torrey Pines so I met a lot of kickers and football players.

Great win... Defense is playing solid, and when we stick to the run game, everything works with our offense eventually.

Josh Reynolds is showing who valuable he is...he's got size, he can stretch the field, and he catches the ball when you throw it to him. Henderson and Brown pounded the ball.

Feel bad for young Burgess..he was playing well and he's versatile. We're going to have to see about safety depth moving forward but Nick Scott made a big tackle on defense tonight.

Just a great game all around. Floyd is playing well..Lewis is coming on..after the bye week with Ashawn and Fuller back, we're building a really solid front 7... Kiser played better this week than last. He needs to start getting to the QB some as I see we rush him a lot, but he's not bringing enough pressure.

Dominant performance for us tonight.

And really, I hate to say it but I am glad Sloman missed. Got to rip off that band-aid and if he had fucked around and looked serviceable he might have stuck a week too long and cost us a game. We need him to be fired after a win, ya know...

Good game minus an incredibly weak Jet Sweep that led to Woods fumble. Quinn hit him 3-4 yards behind the LOS. The defense showed up against a subpar offense, as it should have.

Disappointed with the limited deep threats, inconsistent play calling, and few blitzes on Foles.

I’d say 3.8 out of 5 IMO

The thing about the play calling is Mcvay is in my opinion such a creative play caller that he often goes way too far outside the conservative box.

So running an end around when a run up the middle is a better call looks terrible when it’s blown up.

His predictable quick WR out on third down just boggles my mind. It’s Very predictable and I don’t understand why he doesn’t see that.

Overall Mcvay is a joy to watch and is one of the best, but he has a few spots to clean up in my opinion.

We did take some deep shots in this game early but didn’t hit them. I am fine against this type of defense with the shorter safer game. The Bears frontwas applying excellent pressure and a turnover would have let them back in the game.
