Okay, this is sort of an extension of the the thread someone started asking if the SB was SEA/SF vs. NE what would you do?

Obviously, as a Rams fan we all have reason to hate any and all of those teams and my response was that I wouldn't even watch the game.

But today, I found myself choosing to just sleep through the CAR/SF game and missing most of the DEN/SD game. After Saturday's results I was so disgusted and disappointed with the outcomes that my football weekend was pretty much ruined.

But I've been thinking about it a lot more and I think that I'm just cheating myself. I really enjoy football and I should be having a good time with these games regardless of who wins because none of them directly impact the Rams. As I've tried to figure out why I'm so impacted by outcomes that don't really affect my team, I think I've come to the conclusion that my POV on so many of these players is what's doing it.

I can't stand Kaepernick for example. He plays the game in a way that I don't prefer or like and he's seems like a true douche. When he has success though, I think I've actually gotten to the point where I care more about the fact that that makes me feel wrong about him than anything else. I spend so much time on message boards arguing over these stupid things that it's actually taking away from my enjoyment on Sunday's.

When Bradford does something wrong or doesn't pull out a victory I think I actually dread the message boards more than the fact that the Rams lost or whatever. I love coming to the boards for information and a good tete a tete but I think my ego has taken over and it's ruining football for me. Maybe it's just amplified something that was already there?

I know back in the day when the 49ers would win...regardless of opponent, I'd take it as an affront to the Rams so maybe it's something more? Is there a way to get over this...pride? Insecurity? Anyone else feel this way or have a cure?

I'm asking this right now because there's a very real chance that the SB winds up SF vs. NE and I don't feel like I should have to miss it just because of my hang-ups.

Denver all the way now, but like I said there are some Future Ram benefits from seeing the Seahawks or the 9ers win..sorta like that old phrase thing when we here "there is sliver lining in those dark black clouds". Once your put your heart away think with your brains & see what happens to the usual winner of the big game...Ravens just to bring up a recent team.

The Seahawks will have 8 UFA's starters & the 9ers will have 5 UFA's. Whoever ends up in the big game will showcase their starters for the other cap cash heavy losing teams.

The 9ers UFA's

Anquan Boldin WR UFA SF TBD 33 $6,000,000 starter
Donte Whitner S UFA SF TBD 28 $4,933,333 starter
Jonathan Goodwin C UFA SF TBD 35 $3,166,667starter
Manningham WR UFA SF TBD 27 $2,800,000
Phil Dawson K UFA SF TBD 38 $2,350,000
Tarell Brown CB UFA SF TBD 29 $1,907,312 starter
Colt McCoy QB UFA SF TBD 27 $1,445,625
Anthony Dixon FB UFA SF TBD 26 $660,150
Demarcus Dobbs TE RFA SF TBD 26 $526,519
Eric Wright CB UFA SF TBD 28 $522,648 starter
Kassim Osgood WR UFA SF TBD 33 $522,353 ST star
Michael Wilhoite ILB, LB ERFA SF TBD 27 $480,000

The Seahawks are:
Michael Bennett DE UFA SEA TBD 28 $4,800,000 starter

This may be considered very wrong by more sensible people, but I've been openly and loudly rooting for injuries. It's helped me. I'll continue this therapy during the NFC Championship game.

I will root for Denver and Opie during the AFC Championship though. However, I won't abandon my treatment completely.

If the Superbowl ends up being NE vs either of our nemesis', I will be hosting an Anything BUT the Superbowl party. I would rather watch re-runs of thirtysomething than watch those 2 asshat QB's play for a ring.

I've used this strategy my whole life, these days it makes me a bad person.
My dream scenario for the NFC championship game: Seattle is winning the game and the clock is winding down. They go to the victory formation and snap the ball. The play is whistled dead, yet here comes aldon smith. He rudely takes down Wilson and he lands awkwardly. Blown acl, mcl, pcl for Wilson. Smith is suspended for the entire 2014 season, and Wilson will watch same year on IR. Broncos win Super Bowl.

That's a good idea, really. An "Anti-Super Bowl" party. I might do that. I know my wife has lots of friends who aren't into football, so I might just steal that theme and get my drink on. Maybe I'll put on Heidi (on mute of course) just to add to the overall theme.

That defeats the purpose of having people over who don't follow football though.

I'll have to get lots of robes and incense, but I think I can write it off as a business expense (entertainment).

Don't forget the scented oils.....

Here's my thing...it's about respect. I cannot respect these current shitchickens. The moment that team used "Lynch mob" as a rally moniker sealed it for me. To me that's a despicable act to use a dark and embarrassing time in this country's history to use as something postive. Yeah I know it's because of Marshawn Lynch, however...they could've used something like "Marshawn's Mayhem" or some other corny phrase. I think they removed it, but to me using that just wasn't acceptable. Then you got the constant non stop loudmouths, the aderrall thing, etc etc.

SF...I don't like them. However, I truly believe there are some really humble guys on that team: Frank Gore, Patrick Willis, Joe Staley, Justin Smith, Mike Iupati, Vernon Davis. Colin Kaeperwhatever doesn't bother me. I think it's hypocritical to rag on on him while Janoris Jenkins does his thing on the field. Hes a good player and I don't think he's a selfish, diva, attention seeking brat like Robert Griffin III (anyone see his facebook rant today?). Of course you got guys like Michael Crabtree and Aldon Smith who on or off-field do something that makes me want to throw a shitchicken at them. Then Anquan Boldin...man IDK what happened to him this year. He seems like the Richard Sherman of WRs this year, wasn't like this w/ Arizona and Baltimore. Har-jerk? He's a jerk, but a good football coach. At least (knock on wood) they play old school football.

As for New England, to me I'm over it. That was 13 years ago. I don't see how anyone can hate the majority of their current players. I don't like Tom Brady's tantrums, but w/e. He is what he is. Spygate...meh. It was worth getting angry about it then, not now.

So yeah, my order of preference is NE, SF...and that's it. I don't trust Denver.

If Denver isn't in it, I'm not watching. I have better things to do than suffer through watching teams I absolutely despise.

ohhh Anti-Super Bowl Party... I like it

The day before is my brothers 50th and heading to Connecticut for his party. Might just continue it on to Sunday.

Wifey will be nursing a hang over and watching "Puppy Bowl"
