Since 2003 (the last time the Rams made the playoffs and finished the year with a winning record), the 49ers have gone:

7-9, 2-14, 4-12, 7-9, 5-11, 7-9, 8-8, 6-10, 13-3, 11-4-1, 12-4, 8-8, 5-11, 2-14, and of course 6-10 in 2017.

With the exception of that 3 year "run", that org has been just as bad as the Rams were during that same time span.

The 49ers end the year beaten the likes of the Giants, Bears, Texans, Titans, Jaguars, and Rams backup players. Not exactly a powerhouse lineup in 2017. Jimmy Garoppolo is the best QB ever after this little run of beating (barely) some bottom feeder teams? The 49ers are considered a "hot" team and a Super Bowl contender next year??? WHAT?!

Yet when the Rams were winning this year, the narrative was...

-They haven't beaten anyone significant (which ended up being false on multiple occasions)

-They lack experience for the playoffs (in a year where there is 8 teams out of 12 that are new)

-The Jaguars win was fluky because of special teams and barely scraped by the Titans.

-They are exploiting the system (Sean McVay speaking to Jared Goff through the headset....THE HORROR)

Even though the Rams and 49ers played the same opponents this year.

It's obvious who the favorite team is out there. The media hates the Rams are good. They want SF to be good. Well guess what, bitches...this isn't the 1980s anymore. Its the 20-teens and 2020s. So eat it!

Falls right inline with the narrative of surprise that the Cowboys, Packers and Seahawks missed the playoffs.

Those teams and the Whiners are working on their golf games.

Let's see how well the '9er whores keep sucking up to them when they get a chance to directly compare Jared & Jimmy G in the same game together---especially next season when Goff's mastery of the McVay Airshow is dramatically improved, and he is on the same page with virtually all of his fly guys. Of course, I expect Jimmy G to grow too, but will his growth be more than Jared's? Will his fly guy resources be superior to jared's? Will he have the luxury of having an All Pro-caliber kicker, punter, and long snapper that allows him to be as aggressive as he wants to be . . . knowing they can often bail him out of tight spots? Will he have the luxury of having a dominating defense since we all know Wade is going to get his preferred guys (CBs, LBs, DLs) next season via trade, FA, or draft? Will he have the Sean McVay motivating magic working for him?

For these and other answers to all the questions of the renewed rivalry between 'Frisco and the Land of LaLa stay tuned to next season's weekly episodes of As Kyle Shanahan's Stomach Turns. :ROFLMAO:

Honestly no one cares about the 49ners... unless perhaps you live in northern Cali.

Again I just don't see it... I don't hear anyone talking about the 49ners.... not since Harbaugh was there.

I hope Zuerlein doesn't lose any of his power form that back surgery. Such a valuable weapon to have. Damn he deserved this playoff run... Oh wait, what's this have to do with 49er favoritism. (edit: oh, jap's post made me think of this.)

I’ve noticed this shit to. Wait until we get in the NFC Chamionship game and they don’t know what to say.

A lot of guys in the media who talked shit about us all season saying we are the most dangerous team now. It makes it enjoyable seeing them fumble over themselves going against all the shit they talked about us earlier in the season. I’m talking to you Chris Carter and Nick what ever your no chin having ass name is.

Aaaaand...niners supposed resurgence is all about jimmy, with no mention of lil shanny, while LA’s is all McVay.

The media is and always has been biased - live with it, you’re a Rams fan.

Regardless how good Garoppolo will become (remember he's just 7 starts in), you c an see how good he is by comparing his production to the qbs who played with the same players this season. They went from 18.7 points per game to 24. They went from near last in third conversions down to near the top of the league. Same thing with time of possession. Bottom feeders? Maybe. But even if so, it ignores the lack of quality linemen and weapons Garoppolo is working with (Zane Beadles, one of the worst GUARDS in the NFL, has been playing TACKLE, and getting embarrassed nearly every play, for example).

Even the staunchest Rams fan has to admit that kind of statistical turnaround is impressive.

Will he be elite? Time will tell. But he's already a quality starter.

That said, the Rams are a legitimate threat. I can't speak for the media, but if they are minimizing the balance of this Rams team they are wrong. The only thing that might stop them from getting to the Super Bowl is that Vikings defense. But it's not like the Rams aren't packing a defense as well.

IDK what you are looking for then. The narrative for the Rams success vs. SF's season since the Jimmy Garropolo trade. The narrative is what my OP was.

That isn't my point. No one is saying Jimmy hasn't been impressive. I'm not trying to down play a 5 game win streak, either. My whole shtick is the narrative of the Rams' success this year and SF's. SF has been instantly gratified. The Rams were questioned about the quality of the opponents they played early in the season (even though SF played the same opponents). Jared Goff's success was tied to Sean McVay's somehow exploiting the system (but in SF it's the pure genius of Jimmy Garropolo and Kyle Shanahan). Plus others that I posted above.

It's a double standard and I'm calling it out.
